Tom Brady has always played the long game. Whether it was his unshakable patience in the pocket or his relentless commitment to outlasting the competition, Brady never made a move without the bigger picture in mind. So, when he stepped into an ownership role with the Las Vegas Raiders, did anyone really think he’d be hands-off? The ripple effect of his presence is already being felt. A franchise once known for chaos and short-term fixes is suddenly making moves with purpose. And if history has taught us anything, when Brady is involved, it’s never just about the present—it’s about building something that lasts.

Where the Raiders are has to begin with Tom Brady’s presence in that organization.” These words by reporter Albert Breer speak volumes about the direction the Raiders are heading this offseason. After a disappointing 8-9 season under interim HC Antonio Pierce, they are now reigniting their spark. This time, they’ve got Pete Carroll, Tom Brady, and John Spytek leading the way. The Raiders are looking at the bigger picture. Brady and the team aren’t just hiring for this season – they’re building for the future, securing potential replacements for the seasons to come. Looks like the Raiders are making a big comeback.

Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated did a full report on all the new hires across NFL teams. Breer explains that the Raiders are probably following the same path as the Bucs did by re-signing their DC. “Somewhere, you ought to have somebody in place that can replace you, that eventually will be the guy two, three, four years from now, whatever it is. They hope you establish something strong enough where then you can hand the baton to somebody ready to carry it on,” said the SI reporter.

Pete Carroll, in his introductory press conference, clarified that his coaching staff would include people he has worked with. He is not rebuilding the team from scratch. Carroll will have people on his coaching staff who are already on the team. Now, this is something Tampa Bay also did with their coaching staff when they hired Todd Bowles as the DC in 2018. Bowles was brought in by Bruce Arians, who’d worked with him back when they were with the Cardinals. The reason they rejoined forces was simple – Arians wanted someone he knew well to take over when the time came.

Bruce Arians had Todd Bowles and Byron Leftwich on his staff. He had those two guys as guys that he said, ‘Hey look, I’m an older coach. I know I’m not going to be here forever. Here are a couple of guys who could eventually wind up replacing me,” says Breer.

Tom Brady bring back Patrick Graham to the Raiders

It took us a few years to get to the very top of the last couple of programs I was with. We’re starting right now, going forward immediately.” These were the words of newly hired Raiders HC Pete Carroll. The good thing with the Raiders is that everyone is doing what they are supposed to do. There’s no one poking their nose in anybody’s business – something most teams, Cowboys to be exact, fail to do. Now, Brady has known Coach Pete for quite some time. He has gone head-to-head against him several times in his career. And that’s why he knows a thing or two about good coaches.

What’s your perspective on:

Is Tom Brady the missing piece for the Raiders' long-term success, or just another short-term fix?

So, when Coach Pete said he would be working with people he already knows and coaches who are already on the team, the management understood the assignment. The Raiders started with re-signing DC Patrick Graham. The Jaguars interviewed Patrick twice: once to fill the HC spot after firing Doug Pederson, a position that eventually went to Niners OC Liam Coen. And a second time for the DC position. But the Raiders did not let Graham go.
