Patrick Mahomes, the quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs, has made a name for himself with his recent win but is still miles behind the legendary Tom Brady. The 28-year-old has been a pivotal part of the team’s success throughout this season. And with their recent win against the Miami Dolphins, he’s transcribed the Mahomes name amongst the NFL greats.

The Kansas City Chiefs took on the Miami Dolphins today and managed to secure an easy win by a score of 26-7. With this win, their record currently stands at 11-6. The Chiefs are at the top of the table in the AFC West division and will most likely have the strongest odds of heading to the Super Bowl. Moreover, with Mahomes’ incredible performance last night, it looks as if he’s on his way to being one of the greats as he surpassed Rodgers and Staubach with the win.

After the playoff win against the Dolphins, Mahomes’ winning record stands at 12, more so than Aaron Rodgers and Roger Staubach. The AFC wild-card match was played in harsh winter conditions, which even saw coach Andy Reid’s mustache being frozen over. While the match swayed easily in the Chief’s favor, it held more significance for Mahomes as he surpassed Aaron Rodgers and Roger Staubach with his 12th playoff win.

To put things in perspective, Brady’s playoff record stands at 35-13, and 13 is almost the amount of wins that Mahomes has had as of yet. As such, Mahomes likely goes on to become one of the greatest QBs in the NFL. However, when it comes to breaking Brady’s record of 35 playoff wins, it seems like it’ll take a bit more time and games for Mahomes to overtake the Brady effect that is still going strong even after a year of his retirement. The highest number right before Brady is Joe Montana’s 16 wins, which proves how far ahead the former QB for the Buccaneers is. While Mahomes created history last night, it came with its challenges when his helmet broke after a fierce tackle during the match.

Mahomes’ mother was shocked when Patrick’s helmet broke and flew off

The AFC wild card match was the fourth-coldest in NFL history. Additionally, the cold showed its rage on the field last night as the players gave it their all. In a moment that nobody expected, Mahomes’ helmet broke, and a piece flew off after he got tackled by the Dolphins’ defense. Later, he was given a backup helmet, but it left Mama Mahomes feeling quite worried for the quarterback.

She issued a tweet that said, “This helmet issue and the replays.. makes watching from home absolutely not my favorite. Go my team!! #CHIEFS just tell me the cold broke the helmet.” Thus, Mahomes’ creating history is proof that greatness comes with its own set of challenges that he overcame quite tremendously. And with the Chiefs facing either the Buffalo Bills or the Houston Texans, Mahomes will be their biggest weapon in the arsenal.
