The NFL whispers continue to tease the Steelers reportedly “closing in” on an announced player from the 49ers. Yet, the GM of the team has officially denied any such speculations. It looks like the 49ers have run their course with Brandon Aiyuk or Deebo Samuels and that’s exactly where the Steelers want to jump in.

Additionally, several rumors have implied that the 49ers gave the Steelers an offer for the WR Deebo Samuel, but the team was unwilling to meet San Francisco’s asking price. While Samuel’s name isn’t at the forefront of the limelight, Aiyuk continues to be a figure of controversy since the Steelers are supposedly trying to bring him desperately. Now, the GM of the Steelers, Omar Khan, has come out to shut down all the noise regarding the rumors.

While it wasn’t ever officially confirmed, rumors suggested that the 49ers’ wideout Brandon Aiyuk had demanded a trade from the teams, after which, the Steelers came into the picture. One of the hosts on the show shone light on the gossip and asked Khan whether he had anything to refute and this is what the GM had to say. Khan said, “I heard about it. I didn’t exactly see it. But you know, there’s nothing going on right now. So I’m not exactly sure what the verbiage was, what was reported but nothing. Nothing to report.

Furthermore, the Steelers have signed on the likes of Russell Wilson, Justin Fields and Kyle Allen, for whom Khan is especially excited to see perform on the gridiron soon.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have recently been struggling with their previous QBs. With Kenny Pickett still not reaching the height of his potential in his second year, the team looked to Mitch Trubisky and Mason Rudolph for guidance and they too, failed to meet the expectations beyond the average. It was evident that a change of scenery was needed and Khan found it in the form of his newly signed players.

In regards to the recent signing, Khan excitedly said, “It’s been awesome. Actually three, you know, Kyle Allen also, these guys are out there, watching them a little while ago working out. These guys, the team’s coming together, they’re gelling. Russ is an awesome person to have around there. Same with Justin and Kyle. I’m really excited about that quarterback room and what the future holds for us this year.
