Wayne Rooney must be feeling really blue after he got his first Birmingham City win stolen by a (super) sub. Despite being 2-0 up with 78 minutes played, City conceded two late goals in the 79th and 89th minutes, resulting in a shared outcome, which has driven both analysts and fans into a frenzy.

With the home side maintaining a 2-0 lead up until 11 minutes remaining, Ipswich’s star substitute eradicated the deficit. He then netted another goal in the 89th minute to equalize. Despite securing his first point in his fourth game in charge, it still felt like a defeat for Rooney and his team. Retired NFL legend and partial owner Tom Brady took to Instagram to share his perspective on the unexpected outcome.

Birmingham City FC, with a reported net worth of $44,449,475 in the previous year, was purchased by Shelby Companies Limited (SCL), a US-based entity. Tom Wagner, the current face of the ownership group, welcomed Brady as a minority owner. The retired NFL legend took to Instagram to share his perspective on the unexpected outcome. Two mighty words, stated by the seven-time Super Bowl winner, throw both the new head coach and his team’s shortcomings into sharper relief.

Brady acknowledged the Blues supporters who have been infuriated and pointed out the hosts’ inadequate game management, lamenting the loss of two valuable points in a home game. “Important Point,” wrote Brady on his Instagram story depicting the scoreline of the match.

Wayne Rooney’s managerial escapade

The Wayne Rooney-managed Blues endured defeats in his initial four matches after taking over from John Eustace. Rooney has an upcoming opportunity to secure his first victory as Blues boss before the international break when they face Tony Mowbray’s Sunderland next Saturday. Despite multiple defeats, the former Manchester United player remains hopeful. He expressed his faith in his new team during post-match interviews, “I’m seeing improvement every week. There were good signs against Southampton last week too – and we’ve now improved on that against a good, tough Ipswich Town side.”

Meanwhile, Ipswich can reduce the gap to Leicester by one point if they win their rescheduled match against Rotherham United on Tuesday night. They will then host Swansea City on Saturday afternoon.
