Records are meant to be broken, and the Miami Dolphins sure know it! Their record-breaking 70-20 win against their Week 3 rival, the Denver Broncos are sure to turn headlines into history. Most of the aggressive offensive onslaught was helmed by 25-year-old Tua Tagovailoa, coach Mike McDaniel, and Tyreek “Cheetah” Hill, at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami. And as they did, they ended up rewriting the history books for the ages to come!
Miami made history as the first NFL team since 1966 to score 70 points in a game. They became the fourth team in NFL regular-season history to achieve this feat. The Dolphins came critically close to breaking the NFL team record for the highest total yards in a game, with 735 yards, a record set by the 1951 Los Angeles Rams. Needless to say, NFL fans can barely contain their excitement!

The Dolphins amassed a whooping 726 yards in their 70-20 victory over the Broncos. Instead of attempting one more play in the final minute, they opted to take a knee on fourth down, potentially waiving off any further embarrassment, following conceding 700+ yards and 70 points.

Fans went ballistic on platform X, with someone pulling out a match ticket from the historic day back in 1966, saying, “The Dolphins have scored 70 points. This is only the fourth time in NFL history this has happened. It last happened on Nov. 27, 1966, the highest-scoring game in NFL history. The Redskins beat the Giants, 72-41. The ticket from that game…”

Someone else chimed in, “The Dolphins just had the highest scoring game in the modern NFL without Their 2nd best wide receiver Their 2nd and 3rd string running backs,” referring to the unavailability of Jaylen Waddle due to injury and an explosive performance by the starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa coupled with the Cheetah. The gameplay developed by the trio has been sensational and pivotal in the Dolphins’ record-breaking torching of the Broncos.
Tagovailoa settles an old score with Payton
In an appearance on the Colin Cowherd Show back in 2022, Broncos coach Sean Payton had predicted that Tua Tagovailoa would be benched in favor of Teddy Bridgewater. Which, given Sundsy’s scoreline, is rather ironic.

In Miami’s historic 70-20 victory over the Broncos on Sunday, Tagovailoa had an outstanding performance, completing 23 of 26 passes for 309 yards, four touchdowns, and no interceptions, resulting in a passer rating of 155.8. He is unquestionably the leading contender for the MVP award, and this achievement has come partially at the expense of Payton’s Broncos. The Dolphins also became the first team in the history of professional football to score 10 offensive touchdowns in a single game.

“We’re not going out there to humiliate teams,” Tagovailoa had just the right thing to say to Payton and his team after the game in Miami. “That’s just what it happened to look like.”The scores stand settled.
