Michael Strahan still remembers that one day in October 2023; The day he learned that his 19-year-old daughter had medulloblastoma—a malignant brain tumor. “The first thing that went through my mind was this must be a mistake. It didn’t seem real,” Strahan revealed. Whilst the family was still coming to terms with it, they had to admit Isabella into a Los Angeles hospital to undergo brain surgery.

However, Dr. Michelle Israel, (one of Isabella’s doctors), had revealed that her prognosis wasn’t good at that time. “She was actually in danger of having a seizure, having a stroke, and potentially dying.”

Michael Strahan’s daughter had to undergo multiple treatments and brain surgery. During this process, Isabella Strahan never allowed medulloblastoma cancer to define her, despite the gruesome pain. Her journey is something that has the power to bring tears to people’s eyes and that’s what happened with the $6 million ABC host of

The View, Sara Haines.

On Friday, Haines had an emotional reunion with her former GMA3 co-host Michael Strahan. With a shaking voice and tears in her eyes, Haines read through the narrative as Strahan carefully listened to her. She asked, “Isabella’s first brain surgery left her having to relearn how to walk, talk, and even eat on her own. So she then went through a month of daily radiation, chemotherapy, the pain of a parent watching your child feel uncomfortable. And so few of us deal with this type of pain. How was that for you?”

Michael Strahan knew that Sara Haines was fighting back her tears, so he quickly joked, “You’re going to make me cry.” This brought a smile to everyone’s face, as the former NFLer continued talking about his daughter’s vlog:

“I saw that you were running that piece. I have not watched one vlog she’s done. I don’t even know if I will watch this documentary even though I participate and answer questions for it. It’s just too hard for me to watch and relive it.”

While recalling the difficult journey as a father, Michael Strahan added, “….it’s just you’re hopeless. And you’re helpless. You’re just a father who knows nothing more than to fix what you can for your kids. I can’t fix this. All I can do is sit back and pray that we have the right doctors and that it’s something that can be treated so that she can get back to being as normal as possible and get back to her life.”

Nevertheless, Strahan admitted that watching his daughter fight the disease helped him learn to become strong. But as a father, nothing was harder than sitting in that hospital room, helpless, just telling her he loved her. And fortunately, last year in July, Isabella announced that she was officially cancer-free. Their heartbreaking journey took the entire audience on an emotional ride, who wished the best for the Strahan family.

Some fans resonated with Michael Strahan’s pain as a father…

During the same episode, Michael Strahan also revealed an incident that shook many. He described that during this process when he was with Isabella in the hospital, she looked at him and said, “Hey dad, I’ll do whatever they say. I just want to live. I don’t want to die.” It was raw, heartbreaking, and a reminder of how fragile life can be. That’s why a fan mentioned, “It’s hard to watch it on the screen right? Imagine living it. GOD is Good & our warriors are so Brave!

In fact, ‘Life Interrupted: Isabella Strahan’s Fight to Beat Cancer’, a documentary on Isabella’s cancer journey, will reveal the emotional aspects of what they went through as a family. Of course, Michael Strahan is a part of it as well, but as per his own confession, he might not watch it. It will air on Feb. 5 on ABC.

Another fan just resonated with what Michael Strahan went through. They disclosed their own story and wrote, “My child went through the same thing except add five months of coma to it. You had me in tears. thank you, Michael and your family for sharing your story. As a parent, your emotions really resonated with me, especially the helplessness. You’re the parent you always fix everything. God is good and I’m so thankful that she is doing so well.”

The Strahan family never imagined Isabella would have to go through such difficult times. “It never occurred to us that it would be cancer, I’ll be honest with you, just looking at the trajectory at that point of her life — and we have no history of anything bad in the family,” Strahan revealed once.

When Isabella noticed herself walking in a zigzag pattern one day, it stood out as odd to her. She wondered if it was vertigo, but when her symptoms continued, which included nausea, and throwing up blood, they rushed for a checkup. Isabella’s twin, Sophia Strahan, encouraged her to visit the emergency room and that’s how they got to know about her cancer.

No wonder fans are happy to see Isabella overcome this battle and thrive. This is the reason they all wished her and Michael Strahan’s entire family the best in life. For instance, fans wrote, “
