Although it might be too early for the Patriots fans to celebrate, they might have found their future in Drake Maye. Coming back off a dominant 3-19 victory over the Bears, Maye helped the Patriots win only their 3rd game of the season. Well, it was his second win as the starting QB after eclipsing Jacoby Brissett for the position.

Now, as the Patriots are gearing up to face the Rams in New England, their former TE Rob Gronkowski has gone above and beyond to praise the rookie QB. Catching up with Julian Edelman for NFL on Fox, Gronk revealed his thoughts on Maye’s leadership after it was reported that he called a team meeting a few weeks back. This got Rob to express his thoughts on Maye’s growing influence in New England, “I love Drake Maye. Just that aura around him. He is a complete leader. He is a complete quarterback out on the field, too. The players like him. They like what he is doing. They like how he prepares.”

Well, it’s true the Patriots in the locker room are indeed in love with their rookie QB. After they made light work of the Bears in Chicago, their rookie, WR Ja’Lynn Polk, was in awe of Maye’s speech, “Everybody loved it. We need that. We need that from our starting quarterback. So, everybody loved it. Everybody wants to a certain standard on this team.”

And he wasn’t the only one who decided to praise Maye for his leadership. Their head coach, Jerod Mayo, had similar thoughts on his 3rd overall pick, “When you go out there and perform at a high level, that’s the first step. The next step is to bring others with you. I think Maye is on his way to doing that.”

Even Gronk, who had Tom Brady as his QB in New England, held him in the highest regard by calling him the real deal, “To have that skill to call a team meeting at 22 years old, you know you are going to be a real deal. And you know you are going to be in the right mindset to be the quarterback of the New England Patriots, if you are already doing that.” Amid all the praise that Gronkowski had for Maye, Edelman also chimed in with his thoughts: “I love it. He’s earned the ability to call the team meeting with his plays in the last few weeks.”

As for Maye, it was not until the sixth week of this season that he finally got the starting berth in Foxborough.
