Tom Brady was at the receiving end of some ruthless jabs during his official Netflix roast in May. Though many of the punches landed and were even hilarious, Brady was unhappy with some jokes that involved his family. However, he wasn’t the only one who faced the music, his Super Bowl-winning teammate, Rob Gronkowski also had to face some prickly comments from the panel, but now the former TE wants some compensation from Brady.
While the Netflix special was about Tom Brady, Gronk wasn’t spared by many of the roasters on the night. Nikki Glaser, who stood out on the night went after the former Patriots player saying, “Rob Gronkowski is…not all here. No, Rob, you’re not really as dumb as you look, and sound, and act, and are. He might be dumber. Is it true you were the first person born with CTE? Is that real? . . . You haven’t caught this much heat since you were microwaved as a baby.”
The American standup comedian and actress wasn’t done with Gronk as she took more shots at him. “Tom also lost $30 million in crypto. Tom, how did you fall for that? I mean, even Gronk was like, ‘Me know that not real money.’ Gronk actually does bitcoin, which is where he just chews on a handful of nickels,” Glaser added.

Gronk was also the target of comedian and actor Jeff Ross who mentioned, “‘Forum’ is also the way Rob Gronkowski counts to 5. ‘4, um, 5, um…’ Poor Gronk, he thinks his last name is Owski.” Comedian Andrew Schulz also took a jibe at him saying, “ACL is the only injury Gronk can spell.” Meanwhile, Brady also threw a jab at his former teammate saying, “Despite everything we’ve seen here tonight, Gronk was actually useful on the field. Although the bar for Patriots tight ends was pretty low back then: block, catch, don’t murder.” While Gronk had his fun also on the night, he was keen to remind everybody of the strays he caught on the show.
Recalling the night of the roast on The Quick Snap podcast on November 25, Gronk said, “The roast was one of the best nights of all time. The zingers were definitely thrown. I almost took as many strays as Brady! So I think he still owes me you know a nice little check that he still hasn’t sent me. I want it directly from his bank account as well not from Netflix. I want it from him.”
Brady became a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders in October, purchasing 5% of the team, reportedly worth $335 million. With the Raiders valued at $6.7 billion, Brady’s deal cements his financial dominance. Add his $375 million 10-year FOX Sports contract to the mix, and Brady’s net worth comfortably sits above $300 million.
Interestingly, during the roast, Gronkowski went off script and dished out some insults of his own. According to former Pats QB Drew Bledsoe, “We can see the teleprompter, and Gronk was so far off script that we did not know if he was coming back. Like, he was out wandering in the wilderness.”
Though the Netflix special was a night of hilarious jabs and taking shots at each other with Brady being a good sport, some of the jokes offended him and he shared his regret later.

Tom Brady’s hilarious Netflix roast and Gronk’s playful jab
Tom Brady’s Netflix roast covered everything from Brady’s personal life to infamous league scandals, leaving no topic untouched. While Brady took the jabs in stride, the roast did ruffle some feathers, particularly when it came to jokes about his personal life.
Reflecting on The Pivot podcast, Brady admitted, “I loved when the jokes were about me. I thought they were so fun. I didn’t like the way they affected my kids. It’s the hardest part about, like the bittersweet aspect of when you do something that you think is one way and then all of a sudden you realize ‘I wouldn’t do that again because of the way that it affected actually the people that I care about the most in the world.’ I wouldn’t do that again because of the way it affected the people I care about the most.”

It could be some time before we see a similar roast for a popular NFL star like Brady, but many of the jokes were well-received by the former player and contributed to the great reception the roast special received. But for now, Brady may have to deal with Gronk, who wants a check from the NFL icon.
