Rob Gronkowski and helicopters are like a match that was made in heaven. Or does it? Given his recent encounters with helicopters, it would seem like Gronk shares a strong bond with them. However, if you go back to his college days at Arizona Wildcats, it didn’t look like Gronk loved helicopters around himself.

Catching up with Julian Edelman on Dudes on Dudes Podcast, Gronk shared how he was chased by a helicopter, “So when I was at the University of Arizona. They didn’t allow me to host anyone. I hosted one player, and we got chased by a helicopter.” Although Edelman didn’t believe his story, which seemed a little unrealistic. Gronk went on to share how he evaded the helicopter by banking on his quick thinking, “We hid under a car.”

Well, this helped the former Patriots TE to escape punishment from a helicopter that hovered above their heads. Apart from his embarrassing memory of helicopters in college. Gronk was fortunate enough to etch his name in Guinness World Record books thanks to a helicopter. So what exactly happened that got the four-time Super Bowl winner to add a Guinness World Record to his name?

You would have to go back to 2021, when Gronk surprised the University of Arizona by coming out in his No.48 jersey. He had his first-year head, Jedd Fisch, lined up with him as he announced, “We’re gonna have one more final catch here at Arizona Stadium.” So what catch was Fisch referring to, the fans wondered? And the answer was right up there, hovering above the Arizona Stadium.

As Gronk wanted to make the Guinness Book of World Records Catch, “What we’re gonna do is we’re gonna make it a Guinness Book of World Records Catch. We’re gonna have the highest altitude catch that’s ever been done in the world. 600 feet in the air, we’re gonna have a helicopter drop a ball straight down, and we’re gonna set a Guinness Book of World Record right here in front of all of you guys.” Well, it took Gronk three attempts before he managed to break the record. Sharing that record-breaking moment on Instagram, Gronk wrote, “625ft catch! Mr. World Record Breaker Wildcat in the house.”

You could be wondering if those were his only experiences with helicopters. Just at the beginning of this month, Gronk jumped down from a helicopter on Live TV.

Having retired a few years back, it seems like Rob Gronkowski has never lost his athleticism. Back to his gridiron days when he used to leave everyone behind with his explosive runs to the end zone. Gronk ensured he caught everyone’s attention yet again by jumping out of a moving helicopter.

As the helicopter hovered around at the height of 20-25 feet from the water, Gronk leapt with his GoPro attached to his face. Well, the audience witnessed Rob’s live reaction as he swam to the aircraft carrier moments later.

While his Fox sports fellow analysts helped him get on board, Gronk was soaked from top to bottom. But it didn’t stop Rob from doing his signature Gronk spike as he threw a football to the audience. Though it was a bit cold, the former Patriots TE wanted to repay the gratitude that veterans did for the country. They never used to complain, no matter what the task ahead was, whether it was jumping out of helicopters or anything else.
