After leaving the Washington Commanders in 2022, Carson Wentz is having trouble finding a team to play for in the 2023 season. It’s heartbreaking to see the former Philadelphia Eagles‘ highest draft fall from grace without a team. But given Wentz’s willingness to join a team and his training camp practices, people called out to what was wrong with the 230 lbs and 6’5″ NFL quarterback that would have rendered him teamless.
Carson Wentz entered the NFL with a promising spirit and led the Eagles to a Super Bowl win. But it’s surprising to see why no team is signing him up as he continues to be a free agent. Could he be having the same fate as retired San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick?

Sports enthusiast Jack Dent posted on his Twitter his frustration with Carson Wentz’s inability to land a contract with any team. The post reads, “Raiders nor the Patriots could use the services of a quarterback named Carson Wentz? Not the Falcons or Bears?” As of 2023, the 30-year-old quarterback remains a free agent despite his eagerness to return to the NFL.

Jack Dent went on, “What did this man do that not ONE locker room in the NFL wants this 6’5″, 230 pound QB who runs a 4.6 40 to even TRY OUT?” Carson Wentz joined the Eagles in the second overall 2016 NFL Draft and played with the team till 2020. During his time with the team, he helped them secure a Super Bowl win in 2018.
After leaving the Eagles, Carson Wentz played for two more seasons with the Indianapolis Colts and Washington Commanders. He continued to train regularly after he left the Commanders last season. During his NFL career, Carson Wentz threw 151 touchdown passes with 66 interceptions. Dent added to his barren status, “Colin Kaepernick thing?“
After Colin Kaepernick’s controversial exit from the 49ers in 2016, his return to the NFL this season is a high failure. Nobody wanted to recruit this prodigal player after he sat down in protest during the national anthem. We hope the same isn’t for Carson Wentz, who doesn’t have a controversial past like Kaepernick.
Carson Wentz’s 3-in-1 training attire
The former Commanders QB is reportedly working out with coach Jon Gruden. He is regularly at training camp, and he recently shook social media with his 3-in-1 training outfit. Maybe it’s his way of reminiscing about his home spent with his three former teams, but he wore pieces of their uniforms.

While his performance may have slacked after his transfer from the Eagles, he’s still keeping himself active and could bring a major turnabout in his football career. How much of a chance do you think we’ll see Carson Wentz back on the field?
