You must have heard that the White House has released an important update on the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian award in the United States. The internet has been stirred by the Joe Biden government’s decision to honor soccer legend Lionel Messi, Hillary Clinton, George Soros, and NBA legend Magic Johnson, among others. After this news broke out, Packers legend Brett Favre reacted about the awardee list. He wrote on X, “What words would you use to describe the White House medals that were given out because I’m honestly speechless. 😶”

The main issue creating a controversy around this year’s Presidential Medal of Freedom is that, per experts, the medal is supposed to be awarded to a US citizen who has made a tremendous level of contribution to his field of work and has changed. But the outgoing Biden has snubbed the rule. The government has not given a medal to a person who has contributed to the prosperity, values, world peace, or security of the United States.

In addition to Brett Favre’s protest, Elon Musk has called this drama a “travesty.” Musk said, “It is a travesty that Joe Biden is giving Soros a medal of freedom.” Fans heavily responded to Brett Favre’s post on X. One person reacted to the post by replying, “Michael J. Fox and Denzel Washington were probably the most two deserving people by far…” Another commented, “A New Medal will need to be created for the true Medal of Honors winners.”

Before this year’s highest civilian awards, several sportspersons have been awarded the same. The list includes Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, and Simone Biles. But it remains to be seen how this trend might change the future of the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

However, this is not the only issue concerning Favre, he has some qualms with the National Football League as well.

Brett Favre frustrated on major NFL changes

The NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has informed the NFL world many times about the future changes in the league. Two of the major changes the commissioner talked about- one, playing 16 international games and the other one? Goodell has said, “I think we’ll end up going to 19 games at some point in time.”

Brett got triggered by the 19-week season. He thinks that if the newer players get one week extra, the chances of breaking legendary NFL records would be easy for players. In the current season also, what if Saquon Barkley would have got 19 games? It would have been easy for him to break the rushing record of Eric Dickerson of 2,105 yards. The Eagles running back is just 101 rushing yards away to break the record.

Brett Favre’s concerns – Presidential Medal and NFL reforms – are quite fair. As a legend himself, no one wants to downgrade the greatest level of work, whether it’s in sports or any other walk of life.
