When Kylie Kelce said she was starting a podcast, no one expected her to go full rockstar mode with it. No biggie—until it is. One minute, she’s just vibing with Kaitlin Olson, laughing it up with Chelsea Handler… next minute, she’s flying past Joe Rogan on the charts like it’s Mario Kart. The vibe’s real, the growth’s wild… and now, she just brought that same energy to someone on a whole different level—Michelle Obama.
And there are a lot of things common between Kylie and Michelle. For starters, both the ladies run a podcast (IMO with Michelle Obama and Craig Robinson), both of ’em are proud moms of beautiful daughters, and thanks to their husbands’ professions, they both were dragged to the spotlight. No wonder when Kylie had a chat with Michelle on her Not Gonna Lie Podcast last month, the former first lady bonded with the then soon-to-be mom of four daughters.
It all kicked off when the former First Lady dropped by Kylie’s Not Gonna Lie to chat about her own podcast. And let’s just say—nothing was off the table. From Barack’s late-night habits to her own bedtime routine, parenting chaos, finding that sweet spot called balance, and even touching on politics, Michelle Obama was all in. And Kylie? Well, let’s be real—Kylie’s been interviewing some top-tier personalities for almost half a year now. But while chatting with Michelle?

Well, on the latest episode of her podcast, when a person asked how she kept her cool while talking with Michelle Obama, Kylie confessed that she was feeling too nervous. “I was very nervous to speak to Mrs. Obama. I am so incredibly grateful that she was able to come on,” she said. “I absolutely love how excited people were in the comments on some things because it validated how hype I was about getting that opportunity.”
Picture this: Kylie’s 18, fresh into adulthood, and just became legal to vote, probably still figuring out how to microwave mac and cheese without burning it—and then boom, there’s Michelle Obama on TV, standing tall next to Barack, redefining what power looks like. That image? It stuck with her. So yeah, no wonder when she got an opportunity to speak with Mrs. Obama, she was nothing but nervous and excited. And if we’re not wrong, Kylie even said this to Mrs. Obama as well on her podcast.
“Seeing you as a powerful figure, alongside him as a partner was such an outstanding image of female empowerment,” Kelce said to Mrs. Obama last month. “I just remember that at like 18 years old, and it sits in my brain really heavily, so I’m so excited to get to talk to you.” At this point, it won’t be wrong to say that Kylie just talked with someone she never thought she would have.
“It’s so cool to get to speak to people that you never thought in your entire lifetime that you would get to speak to,” Kylie continued. “It just keeps happening. We just keep talking to people that I’m like ‘why, why? I don’t know why you agreed to this, but I am so happy you did. So I just want to be clear.'” Recently, when asked how she kept her cool while interviewing THE Michelle Obama, Kylie had an interesting answer to that.
“I had full pit sweat like I usually do when ‘I interview people because I like what the fuck are we even doing?’ And but for Michelle, it hit a new level because for Mrs. Obama, I did.” At the end of the day, Kylie Kelce just added another top-tier personality on her guest list. But the nervousness behind this? Well, she just can’t explain in words.

Michelle Obama told Kylie Kelce why she will never run for President
From 2009 to 2017, Michelle Obama spent eight years along with her husband and kids in the White House. But if you ask her if she’d want to run for President, she’d just reply in one word, “No.” That’s it. The reason? See, when the Obama household moved to the White House, their girls, Sasha was 8 and Malia, was 10. That means both her kids spent their teenage under strict security and the nation’s most famous residence.
And yeah, that’s one of the reasons why Michelle Obama never did and never will run for President. “The day-to-day kind of challenges that any parent has with teenagers, we had it on 100,” Michelle told Kylie Kelce while talking about those days. “I was so glad when we got out of the White House. I wanted them to have the freedom of not having the eyes of the world on them. So when people ask me would I ever run? The answer is no.”

To make things obvious, Michelle explained the sacrifices her kids had to make because of their parents’ profession. And to make it clear, she admitted that she just doesn’t want to put her girls back in that spotlight. Not again. Speaking of her kids, while discussing different topics, the conversation also led to her parenting and finding balance amidst this.

Here’s the thing—Michelle’s a mom of two girls, and Kylie has just welcomed baby girl number four. So yeah, if there’s one thing both these ladies totally get, it’s the holy grail of parenting: a solid sleep schedule. The kicker? Well, Mrs. Obama believes that she has a thing for early bedtime while raising her girls. “The girls, they were good sleepers,” she explained. “Bath time, seven o’clock, bedtime 7:3o, and then I had at least a couple of hours where nobody was asking me for anything. Maybe that’s where I got the early bedtime from.”
Beyond her take on politics, discussing parenting and early bedtime, we can just say that Michelle Obama and Kylie Kelce discussed tons of topics. But one thing’s for sure: whether she felt excited or nervous, Kylie will never forget her chat with the former first lady.
