Nostalgia is in the air! It’s good to be back to where your roots lay, and former Denver Broncos tight end Shannon Sharpe isn’t missing out on this trip for anything in the world. After all, this is the place where he grew up perfecting his football skills to brush his future NFL career. But aside from that, this place brings lots of nostalgic memories, and Shannon Sharpe makes a brave reveal. 

Shannon Sharpe maintains a close relationship with his family. He has two older siblings who love and support him in all the ways they can. The Pro Football Hall of Famer provides a glimpse into his childhood and all the things his sister Sherra Sharpe had to go through for him after they moved to Georgia with his grandparents.

Shannon Sharpe just traveled over 360 miles to bring a show at his alma mater, and he receives loads of love and appreciation from fans. “This day has definitely been a FULL CIRCLE moment!” he said. The 56-year-old retired legend admits that his sister is there too as he brought up his nostalgic memories of his childhood in Georgia.

My grandfather passed in 1977,” he said with emotion. Shannon goes on to share that they share a very unique relationship. He continued, “He was more like my father. My sister is more like my mother.” He related his childhood when he was very young, and his sister would “bathe” him and “help (him) with homework.” Sharpe recounted how both his sister and grandfather would rather give him a piece of truth instead of sugarcoating it with flattery.

Sherra Sharpe is a blooming entrepreneur and businesswoman who shines in the fields of sports and entertainment. A University of Georgia graduate with a degree in business administration, She is the founder and CEO of Sharpe Enterprises. Since landing in Atlanta, she has worked with some of the most popular sports and entertainment industries like NASCAR, NFL, Usher, Jay-Z, and more. 

From a poor family to the closest bond

Born in 1968 to Pete Sharpe and Mary Alice Dixon, who separated when he was just three months old, Shannon Sharpe, along with his siblings, moved to Glennville, Georgia, and were brought up by their grandparents. He is the youngest of three siblings – 59-year-old former footballer Sterling Sharpe and sister Sherra Sharpe, who practically raised him.

Shannon Sharpe’s childhood was nowhere close to easy as he once joked, “We were so poor, a robber once broke into our house and we ended up robbing the robber.” But jokes aside, the retired NFL legend relied on his older sister as a mother he never got to know. His older brother also plays an influential role in his life by always supporting his endeavors. He said in the talk, “I have the best brother, sister, mother, father combination of anybody in the world.
