Shortly after their get-together at Pebble Beach, Alex Rodriguez took to Instagram to upload photos of him and Tom Brady and the splendid view of the golf course. He wrote in the caption, “See @tombrady the retired athlete life isn’t so bad… thanks for not beating me too bad out there.” Brady replied in response, “Great couple days see you soon!” It’s clear from their enthusiasm that the two legends enjoyed their time together.

For Tom Brady, however, this isn’t the first time he’s playing at Pebble Beach this year. Pairing with pro golfer Keegan Bradley, he entered the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am tournament in early February, making headlines for his failed attempt on what could’ve been a good shot. Nonetheless, the duo finished for a tie of 20th at the tournament. Actively playing golf in his 40s, Tom Brady is on his way to living the desire he disclosed to Alex Rodriguez once.

Divided in baseball, united in golf

The history of Tom Brady and Alex Rodriguez has a funny twist because the NFL legend is a huge fan of the Boston Red Sox. A-Rod, however, primarily played with the New York Yankees during his career. And it’s no secret that the Red Sox and Yankees rivalry is among the oldest, fiercest, and most popular rivalries ever. But that didn’t affect the two stars’ shared interest in golf when they began playing together decades ago.

Previously, A-Rod said, “Tom Brady, come here buddy. Let me tell you something. I’m in your town, Boston. You’re in my town, Florida. Twenty years ago, I picked you up at the Hotel Miami. We went down and played some golf on the course. Somewhere in the fourth hole, you told me, ‘Alex, I want to play till I’m 50.'” At 46, Tom Brady looks like he won’t stop playing anytime soon.
