Trevor Lawrence in the last season has seen a lot of pressure last season of the NFL – with receiver errors, dropping passes and shoulder surgery. It was like the universe was conspiring against him. Though the O-line of his team did help him not get sacked in the game, that much. The offensive front actually showed some improvement—because they went out and snagged a powerhouse from the Bills. Turns out, when you bring in a strong O-man, life as a QB suddenly feels a little less like a horror movie.

However, the recent departures from the Jacksonville Jaguars have made Trevor somewhat emo about the whole situation. With Mitch Morse and WR Christian Kirk announcing their retirements, the QB couldn’t just sit back – he had to put his thoughts out to let them know what it was like playing alongside them.

But Trevor wasn’t about to let Mitch Morse ride off without a proper send-off. Sharing an Instagram story with a picture of him and Mitch, Trevor captioned, “Congrats King! (salute emoji).” Sweet, short, and straight to the point. Before this, the QB had also shared a post on X, writing a goodbye note for the former Chiefs star: “Congrats on a great career brother. Only was with you for a short time but still felt your impact and have always respected the way you played the game and the person you are. Go enjoy retirement big dawg!!!”

For Kirk, Trevor Lawrence wrote on X, “Man it was a privilege to share the field with you! You’re a great person, friend and player. Your best days are ahead! I’ll always be in your corner (except maybe twice a year). Love you brother.” Now, that’s how you do a heartfelt send-off.

Morse also gave his respects to everyone involved in his football journey – he wrote, “The things I’ll remember and cherish most about my career are the relationships and bonds I created with my teammates, both on and off of the field. Nothing can replace that, and I will miss it dearly.” But, after hanging up his cleats – where is the “Big Dawg” planning to go?

Mitch Morse’s post-career plans

Morse has played for a decade in the NFL – bouncing from the Chiefs to the Bills and then finally last season with the Jaguars. He was selected by the Chiefs in the 2015 Draft in the second round, 49th overall pick. However, his rookie season was rough – thanks to a double dose of foot injuries that landed him on IR. Then he signed a four-year contract with the Bills for $44.5 million. And became the highest-paid centre in the league at that time. Not too shabby, right? Fast forward to last year – he signed up with the Jaguars for two years, only to call it quits after one season. Well, you know when you’ve given a decade to the game – you know when to hit the brakes.

Is Trevor Lawrence's heartfelt farewell a sign of true leadership on and off the field?

Have an interesting take?

Now, post-retirement, Mitch has made it clear that – family comes first. As he wrote in his retirement post, “I look forward to spending more time with them as I navigate retirement.” You have certainly earned it, Mitch. After grinding it out in the NFL for a decade, it’s only fair he gets some family time. Because at the end of the day, that’s who you hustle for – and are the ones that got your back when the final whistle blows.

Mitch’s retirement marks the end of an era. Not just for him, but for the Jaguars and his teammates, especially Trevor Lawrence. Trevor is out here proving that he’s not just a leader on the field but also off-field – showing love and respect for the guys who’ve shared the grind with him. And as for Mitch. He is ready for some family time? Sounds like the ultimate touchdown.
