There was a reason why Michael Irvin was called the ‘playmaker’ of the Dallas Cowboys. He was a class apart in using his size and physicality to beat corners. He could throw off a press, use his body to shield the defender, catch away from his body, and fight for the jump ball with anyone. Irvin has a shorter list but his per-game playoff averages are very close to Jerry Rice’s. But Irvin’s most valuable quality was probably his temperament.

The fire that he brought to the sideline was an asset, not a distraction. He would not tolerate a quitter on his sideline. Not many can grab Erik Williams by the facemask, and scream into his face. Irvin set the tone for that Cowboys dynasty more than any other player. Sadly, the aggressive player had to say goodbye to the gridiron after a scary injury sustained against Philadelphia in a game on October 10, 1999. The reception was the 750th catch of his career, tying him with Charlie Joiner for ninth in NFL history. But the injury left him paralyzed for nearly 20 minutes by a herniated disc.

Less than a year after this, Irvin, a 3x Super Bowl champion with the Cowboys, announced his departure from the sport, teary-eyed. But with his knowledge and expertise of the sport, the Hall of Famer joined the NFL Network as an analyst in 2009. for the next 15 years, Irvin was a prominent figure on shows like “GameDay Morning.” In May 2024, amid significant layoffs in the network, it parted ways with Irvin. But just a few months after that, in September, he landed his new position.

It Is What It Is, hosted by platinum-selling recording artists Ma$e and Cam’ron alongside Treasure “Stat Baby” Wilson, in the start of the season had announced Invin joining the podcast. As the Super Bowl 59 concludes, it was time for the hosts to say goodbye to Irvin until the next season commences. For that they put up the fitting tribute on their Instagram handle. Sharing the moment of honoring the legend on the show, the podcast crew wrote, “UNCLE MIKE’ WE DEFINITELY APPRECIATE YOU, YOU WAS EXACTLY THE MISSING PIECE WE NEEDED 🫱🏿‍🫲🏾 UNTIL NEXT SEASON 🫡”

Cam’ron became so emotional that he also posted an IG story of the post and stated, “IMA Miss you.” Mase, on the other hand, described Michael Irvin’s significance to the team. The rapper became so emotional that he started tearing up as he said that Irvin’s appearance on the podcast had given him a new, significant friend. But that wasn’t all; in honor of the legend’s incredible 12-year career, Cam’ron also sported a red cowboy hat during the episode. Indeed, Invin was and is a Cowboy through and through. Look how upset he was with the franchse’s coaching saga.

Last month the Cowboys recruited their offensive coordinator Brian Scottenheimer as their new head coach and Irvin was furious with the decision. On FOXSports’ SPEAK, he emphatically said “no” when asked if Scottenheimer was the correct choice. In fact, he even called for Deion Sanders to be recruited, calling his former teammate the right guy for the job. Later in one of his YouTube videos, Irvin teared up while discussing the matter.

“I hope and pray somehow, someway, somebody find some damn man and they damn heart and stand up and say, we will represent the star the right way. We don’t give a damn who is coaching. We guarantee we’re gonna win and we’re gonna get to a championship game. But damn it, I doubt it. I’m so f**king hurt,” he said, groaning. “Imma just say this. All you jokers, man, everybody tries to put everything on Jerry Jones all the time. And I try to defend Jerry. This one I will not defend. I don’t like this call,” he had further added.

Fans claim that Michael Irvin was a perfect replacement for OJ Simpson

Fans initially opposed the concept of Irvin on the table, but it appears that things have entirely changed after the season. O.J. As one fan claimed, “Facts. Mike carried the OJ torch with honors 💯”

This fan was not alone as some other ones too started to say that Irvin was actually a perfect addition. They claimed that “Mike was Very Entertaining & a Greatttt Addition to the Team💪🏽💯!!!!” This positive response from the fans continued with the demand for his comeback. And fans cannot wait for the next season so they are demanding Michael Irvin to return in the NFL draft week only. The fan’s comments read, “Bring him back for NFL Draft Week.”

Another fan had a similar thought where they claimed, “Hurry back ❤️.” Some fans even started to call Mase’s comments for Irvin a real rap. They claimed that this was a perfect send-off to him. The comment read, “Real rap, Michael Irvin, YSL Mike 🙌🏾”
