Remember the 60-minute interview of 2005 with correspondent Steve Kroft, where Tom Brady, who was then the New England Patriots’s quarterback, explained how he sees his life? “Maybe a lot of people would say, “Hey man, this is what is.” I reached my goal, my dream, my life. Me, I think: God, it’s gotta be more than this.” This determination to grow and be competitive at the same time tells the exact personality of Brady. However, being the best at everything might cause trouble sometimes. And this is what it looks like in the legendary QB’s case this time.
During Wednesday’s episode of the Dan Patrick Show, NFL’s national reporter, Mike Florio, joined the host to talk about Tom Brady’s upcoming trouble. We all know that Tom Brady has a 10-year, $375 million deal with Fox Sports. And simultaneously, he is also a 5% minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders. Hence, there are some decisions and rules that are going to mix up, making things complicated for the former quarterback.
Discussing the same, Mike Florio said that Tom Brady’s decision to juggle two demanding roles at the same time can put him into trouble. He pointed out that these two jobs just don’t mix well. The 59-year-old also added, “When this was all first percolating, he wanted to be the best at everything he does. It’s impossible to be the best possible broadcaster you can be and the best possible part owner of a team you can be and he’s either completely oblivious to that or he is hyper aware of the fact that he can do whatever the hell he wants and he’s going to do whatever he wants to do.”

But Florio thinks, at some point, Tom Brady is “going to realize not being able to go to the games, not being involved with the team in the regular season as involved as he’d like to be because he has another job that keeps him occupied on Sundays in other cities covering other games. I think at some point he’s going to realize on his own that I shouldn’t do both and I can’t do both…..I think that there are people in the league who are quietly hoping that’s the way it goes.” Although Florio doesn’t reveal any name who quietly wants Brady to put his foot back, the NFL’s team’s rules have definitely put pressure on his stake.
On the other hand, Tom Brady, being the star of the NFL, wants himself to be close to the sport even after his retirement. But not every time it can function accordingly. Why? Well, the impact of it has already started to come to light.
Tom Brady’s toes dipped down into controversies?
Tom Brady finds himself in a tricky situation. As a minority owner of the Raiders and a voter for the AP NFL awards, it’s raising serious questions. Imagine this: if a Raiders player is up for an award, what does Brady do? Voting for them could seem biased, but not voting could cause friction within the team. Definitely, it’s a tough spot for him, especially since these awards can affect player bonuses and team finances. Hence, fans have started wondering if Brady should step back from voting. In addition, some even believe the NFL or AP might step in by 2025 if he doesn’t.

On top of that, Brady’s broadcasting job with Fox is clashing with his ownership role. There’s even talk that he might leave Fox after just one year, especially with rumors about his influence in choosing the Raiders’ next coach. After Antonio Pierce was fired, Dianna Russini reported that Tom Brady would have a significant influence in choosing the next coach. Hence, the conflict of interest will occur as he would be potentially searching for a coach while covering other teams. Therefore, The Athletic’s Richard Deitsch predicted that Brady won’t come back as FOX color commentator in the 2025 season. In addition, Ex-Marlins owner David Samson also agrees with this, suggesting that Brady isn’t coming back with FOX.
So, the next year is going to be interesting as we will see what happens with Tom Brady’s dual role.
