It’s just, you’re hopeless. And you’re helpless.” For Michael Strahan, it wasn’t easy to fix things up for his children. When it came to his daughter Isabella’s medulloblastoma—a malignant brain tumor—diagnosis, the former footballer was essentially “helpless” relying on doctors and God. After months of pain and uncertainty, the Strahan family’s faith paid off as the 21-year-old was declared cancer-free in July 2024. But now, the television host faces another challenge—one where he is just as helpless. And this time it’s not about his family. It’s about football.

The emotional rollercoaster of Super Bowl LIX came to an end on Sunday, February 9. After the Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22 in a game that can only be described as electric, the confetti settled, the celebrations faded, and the screens that once lit up with the game’s passion have gone dark. For the NFL world, an unshakable emptiness lingers—one that no highlight reel or offseason news can truly fill. And for Michael Strahan, that void feels even deeper.

On February 12, the broadcaster shared a story on his official Instagram account from his Michael Strahan Brand. In the new update, the 53-year-old was seen with half of his face covered with a hood. Now, what’s so special about this? Well, it is in that picture, and especially the caption.

In the story, the former New York Giants defensive end-turned-broadcaster could be seen with a gloomy expression. The meme seemed to capture his forlornness—a sentiment that was further intensified by the message attached: “When you realize there’s no NFL football until September.” In addition, the post also featured a caption saying, “September cannot come quick enough (crying emoji),” and a hashtag—“#RaiseYourGame.

No doubt, this picture and the captions reflect the shared melancholy among football fans as they jumped to the captions to express their sadness, with the absence of those Sunday football, Monday night & Thursday night games. Now, the helpless NFL community faces the long offseason, yearning for the excitement and thrill of the showdowns. Having said that, while the broadcaster seems to be stuck on an unending loop of boredom, it’s safe to say that the Giants fandom’s hate train has hardly affected him…

For the unversed: The Super Bowl LIX was supposed to be a big day for the Chiefs, as they aimed for a three-peat. While that ship drowned even before it set sail, Strahan was fighting a fire all by his own. The controversy arose during the FOX pregame show where Strahan did a segment with Eagles running back Saquon Barkley. As the show ended, the former Giants player decided to wave an Eagles flag while saying, “Fly Eagles Fly”.

Furthermore, Strahan doubled down on his support, saying, “But he is such a special man, come on we’re gonna ‘Fly Eagles Fly’ for Saquon Barkley because I respect and love this man so much,” Strahan said. “We don’t have a flag in New York!” Unexpectedly, or expectedly—you decide—the fandom wasn’t exactly having a field day with the gesture, and hopped to social media to call out the star.

While some asked for him to be booed, others called him a “Sell out”. Thankfully, though, Strahan doesn’t seem to have taken the criticism to heart, evident from his latest social media updates…

What’s your perspective on:

Is the NFL offseason the toughest time for fans, or does it build anticipation for September?

Have an interesting take?

On a separate note, this significant gap, until the next regular season, which begins in September, will nevertheless feature Draft sessions as well as shift-ins and shift-outs of players & coaches. But Michael Strahan has already started experiencing some major shuffles in his NFL hosting career.

Michael Strahan reveals his FOX NFL Sunday Future!

The season has ended. And a few are also bidding farewell to their work, especially in Strahan’s group. The 53-year-old and former Giants came into the broadcasting world with a FOX Sports analyst, becoming the front and center of FOX’s NFL Sunday coverage, especially for the Super Bowl LIX. He was partnered with Curt Menefee, Howie Long, Rob Gronkowski, Terry Bradshaw, and Jimmy Johnson for the big matchup. But as the game ended, the journey of some of the members of his squad in the FOX segment, too, wrapped up.

Yes! You heard it right. Michael Vick quit the Fox NFL Sunday program as he shifted to the gridiron. Drenched in tears, he bid a farewell to his FOX group, as he became the 19th head coach of Norfolk State University’s football team. On the other hand, Jimmy Johnson too hinted that he is going to retire soon from the show. This is evident in his emotional look in a segment on his Hall of Fame career. And Bradshaw’s shaky appearance sparked concern, as fans are speculating about the 76-year-old’s retirement soon. But what about Michael Strahan?

Well, he has decided to stay with the FOX NFL Sunday! In an emotional message, which he shared on social media, said, “#SuperBowlLIX on @nflonfox. What a time with the fellas.. Until next year!” So, yes, Michael Strahan is returning as the FOX Sports coverage journalist in 2025 too.
