Simone Biles has spent her career flipping expectations—both literally and figuratively. From redefining what’s possible in gymnastics to using her platform for mental health advocacy, she’s never been content with just winning medals. And now, as she soaks in the breathtaking landscapes of South Africa on a well-earned honeymoon with her husband, Jonathan Owens, another major milestone is unfolding back home.

The couple has been enjoying their long-awaited honeymoon and safari adventures in South Africa. Imagine watching stunning sunsets, being close to nature and wildlife, and hearing elephants trumpeting in the background – you might feel like you’re in Jurassic Park, right? Simone and Owens’ Instagram posts and stories will give you major travel envy. While the multiple-time gold medalist has been snapping pictures with elephants, some big news has been brewing back home. Simone’s connection to the NFL, which began with her marriage to Owens, just got deeper. And former legendary player Michael Strahan has something to say about it too.

The big news is that Simone Biles has teamed up with Michael Strahan and Tom Brady by joining Religion of Sports. Yes, the same Religion of Sports that documented Serena Williams‘ tennis journey and Aaron Rodgers: Enigma. The 2024 Paris Olympics gold medalist will be joining the Board of Directors. The organization’s official Instagram announced the news with a post, and on Thursday, Michael Strahan gave Biles a warm welcome. Reposting Religion of Sports’ original post on his story, Strahan captioned it, “Welcome @simonebiles” followed by a fist bump emoji.

This isn’t the first time Simone has been involved with ROS. The platform has previously documented her gymnastics journey to the Olympics in a two-part series. The second part, Simone Biles: Rising, which streamed on Netflix, won the Critics Choice Documentary Award for Best Sports Documentary. So, even before joining the Board of Directors, Biles had already been bringing accolades to ROS.

So, now that we’re talking about ROS, you might want to know a little more about it.

What is ROS, and what does Simone Biles have to say?

About nine years ago, an idea sprang to the mind of Gotham Chopra, who had loved sports since childhood. Along with Michael Strahan and Tom Brady, he brought that idea to life, and that’s how Religion of Sports was born. The idea was to bring nonfiction content about sports to audiences, documenting athletes’ journeys in ways never seen before. We’ve always known the glory, but not what it truly took to get there. Religion of Sports changed that, bringing behind-the-scenes stories to the public.

From gymnastics to boardrooms, is Simone Biles redefining what it means to be a sports icon?

Have an interesting take?

Talking about joining forces with Strahan and Brady at Religion of Sports, Biles said, “Whether I like it or not, I’ve been around the entertainment space for basically my whole professional career. If you had asked me when I was younger, I wanted to be a nurse. I wanted to help people.” The platform has covered the journeys of many athletes, from Tom Brady to LeBron James. The best part about ROS documenting athletes’ lives is that it doesn’t just focus on their sports careers. You might remember when Fox host Laura Ingraham’s comments about LeBron James and Kevin Durant sparked a major backlash. She told the NBA stars to “shut up and dribble,” implying they should stay out of politics.

LeBron, along with Gotham Chopra, had a three-part docuseries in response to Ingraham’s comments, telling everyone it’s a free America and that everyone has the right to voice their opinions, including athletes. Well, now that Simone is part of it, you can always expect amazing things ahead. “I feel like this is such a unique way to still be in the community, to give back, to tell people’s stories in a positive manner, in a beautiful way. I’m always around it, always in it, so why not give other people the platform?” said Biles. So, get ready to witness inspiring stories brought to you by America’s true wonder woman, Simone Biles.
