For new Los Angeles Chargers HC Jim Harbaugh, familiarity is a key component in building a solid coaching staff. For him, there’s no need for a killer resume because hands-on experience with them is a deciding factor as to whether or not they fit the coaching requirements. So yes, the Chargers might soon see a former San Francisco 49ers player’s face among them.
Former NFL linebacker NaVorro Bowman may not have a lot of coaching experience since his exit from the league in 2017. However, if Jim Harbaugh believes in him, there’s a strong chance that he’s going to be a force to reckon with. Bowman is currently a defensive analyst at Maryland and is set to join Harbaugh once again in LA, this time as a coach.

It’s not a “random” pick as Rapoport mentioned because Jim Harbaugh already has experience with the 35-year-old. NaVorro Bowman played in the NFL for eight seasons primarily with the 49ers from 2010 to 2017 when Harbaugh was the HC and a short stint with the Oakland Raiders in 2017. With the 49ers, he has seen and experienced what it takes to be part of one of the best defenses in the NFL.
