In the NFL, some players are just built different, and their legacy stays stamped on the game forever. Micah Parsons is one of those next-gen beasts who’s turning heads and breaking records, and yeah, he’s got the juice. Cowboys don’t. But, hold up—there’s one legend who’s got some straight talk for him. That legend? The GOAT linebacker, Lawrence Taylor, as he stepped into the conversation with some solid advice. Or should we say a dig?
During an appearance on the Maintaining with Cyrus podcast for OutKick on February 15, the host pointed out, “You are still talked about….Whenever a new defensive guy comes along, you know Micah Parsons is an incredible athlete and [Myles] Garrett out there in Cleveland…The comparison’s the first thing they want to do. They want to compare [them] to you. You are the standard…but I don’t think that anyone should be compared to you until they’ve been away from the game at least 20 years and [are] still talked about.”
Well, Micah’s out here racking up stats like it’s nothing. But Taylor isn’t really impressed when it comes to the extra noise surrounding the Cowboys player. “He’s a great player. But guys, let’s do more. Let’s play more football and less podcasts.” That’s right, Taylor’s throwing a little shade at Parsons’ side hustle. We get it—podcasting’s fun and all, but Taylor wants the 25-year-old to keep his eyes on the field solely. Play the game first, and everything else will follow. No distractions, just grind mode.

But Taylor isn’t just hating on Parsons’ hustle. Seems like he gets that today’s players are making moves outside the game, too. “Micah in particular, he’ll have a… movie, action movie star… that brother’s got it,” he said, imagining Parsons as the next big Hollywood action hero. But don’t get it twisted—Taylor’s still telling him, “Don’t put, don’t forget where you’re at.” Chase the side gigs, but always keep football as the main course. Everything else is dessert.
To wrap it up, the veteran also dropped some straight-up gold from his own experience. “One of the things you talked about is you always chased the guy in front of you, but then when you got in front, you want to let nobody catch you,” he said. That’s the mindset that made him a legend. So, if you want to be great, take notes: Stay hungry, stay focused, and never, ever get comfy. Keep that fire burning. And last but not the least, football first. Always.

And while Taylor’s words hold weight, Parsons might be looking for a new home, because if rumors are to be believed, Jerry Jones is not keeping him in Dallas.

Jerry Jones might be ready to move on from Micah Parsons; What’s next?
The Dallas Cowboys are heading into the offseason with a ton of questions, and one of the biggest ones is about Micah Parsons. After a rough 7-10 season, the team needs to make some big moves, and Parsons’ contract situation is officially the storyline to watch. Heading into the fifth and final season of his rookie deal, talks about his future are heating up fast. Some say a massive payday is coming. Others? They’re wondering if Jerry Jones might actually trade him. Yeah, you read that right!
Parsons is locked in for 2025 after the Cowboys picked up his fifth-year option, which means he’s set to make about $24 million. But after back-to-back Pro Bowl seasons, Parsons is expected to cash out with a monster extension—probably north of $30 million a year, as per Sportrac. The problem? Dallas is already spending big on guys like Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb, which means handing Parsons a bag could put the team in a tight spot. That’s where the trade rumors start to make sense.

One wild proposal’s floating around. Parsons to the Bengals for Trey Hendrickson, the No. 17 pick in the draft, and a third-round pick in 2026. On paper, that’s a solid return—Hendrickson just dropped 17.5 sacks last season, and those extra draft picks could help Dallas rebuild. But let’s be real: letting go of Parsons would be a massive gamble. The guy is only 25 and already one of the best pass rushers in the game. You don’t just replace that overnight.
Parsons, for his part, seems cool about it all. He’s said he wants to stay in Dallas and that he’s had good talks with Jerry Jones. But business is business, and until pen hits paper, anything can happen. So, Cowboys fans? Buckle up. This offseason is about to be a rollercoaster.
