The AFC South leaders of Houston Texans gave rise to another leader. Throughout the 18 weeks, the rookie QB CJ Stroud won hearts. Shining bright right from his rookie year, Stroud has made heads turn in appreciation in most games, leading the 10-7 Texans straight to playoffs. While Stroud might sound like an up-and-coming player, ever wondered about him breaking the iconic Tom Brady record, who was also his mentor once, right from his rookie season?

The two-time Heisman Trophy finalist from Ohio State completed the games of this season till now with 20-of-26 passes for 264 yards, and two touchdown passes. However, his AFC-best 134.1 passer rating in the 23-19 victory over the Indianapolis Colts punched their ticket to the postseason. While the game had some monumental stats in itself, it was something else that prompted the 22-year-old to join an exclusive circle with luminaries like Tom Brady and Joe Montana.

Texans excellent rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud was named the AFC Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season. A hard-earned title, as he tussled Texans into the playoffs and led them to the divisional title as well. If all this was not enough, Stroud also became the third player in NFL history to lead the NFL in passing yards per game and touchdown-interception ratio in the same season, something that only Tom Brady and Joe Montana have been able to accomplish.

In this season, Stroud has passed for 4,108 yards, 23 touchdowns, and 5 interceptions, along with a passer rating of 100.8, a slap to the nay-sayers who doubted his ability in the beginning.

” It’s just really cool to see those great names next to mine, but I know I have a lot more to do in my career,” commented Stroud on his achievement. Well, how can he not, especially when a special experienced someone shared his cheat code for being the best QB?

Tom Brady carries out a QB summit

Earlier this year in the off-season, Brady conducted a QB summit for players. Players like Bryce Young and CJ Stroud attended it in the summer.

” When you walk in that locker room as a rookie, you have some people who look at you with confidence, and you [have some who] don’t,” started Stroud in the ‘Let’s Go! podcast. “So, you really have to build that, so that instilled a lot of confidence in me, and telling me like, ‘I can do this.'”
