One thing about Jim Harbaugh’s coaching style is that he’d rather stick to what showed promise and talent rather than take his chances. This is clear from the way he’s rounding up all those coaches with whom he had experienced success in the past. Some of these coaches include Jesse Minter, Greg Roman, and Ben Herbert all of whom had successful experience with Harbaugh. Not a bad move for someone who’s after a Super Bowl!
For one, he knows that Justin Herbert is a star bubbling with potential. And he also knows that the starting QB is going to perform better under someone with whom he shares a bond. This is where former Los Angeles Chargers QB coach Shane Day comes in.
With the latest reports on Twitter, it looks like a great deal for both Jim Harbaugh and Justin Herbert as well as the Chargers as a whole. Harbaugh is assembling all the tried-and-true coaching staff to prepare for his first stint with the Chargers. Former Chargers pass game coordinator and QB coach Shane Day is coming back to LA.

The relationship between Shane Day and Justin Herbert
Shane Day served as the San Francisco 49ers QB coach in 2019 and 2020 before he joined the Chargers. The question is why. One of the main reasons that played a determining factor in his decision to join the Chargers in 2021 was Justin Herbert. He was the NFL offensive rookie of the year in 2020 with 4,336 yards and 31 TDs.

Justin Herbert’s performance impressed Shane Day who said, “Seeing him throw in person is very impressive. I mean, he’s one of the most impressive throwers I’ve been around.” Day is a veteran coach in the NFL with his career starting since 2007. Also, given the experience he had with Herbert, it could be a new chapter with a new HC and a set of new coaching staff. Perhaps, good things are coming for the Chargers.
