It’s an exciting day for the Los Angeles Chargers who secured yet another alumni into their coaching roster. Days after bringing in Shane Day who will serve as the team’s QB coach, Jim Harbaugh has yet again bagged another former Chargers. After all, once part of a team, they’re always part of that team.
There’s always a first time for everyone and Jim Harbaugh is giving this prestigious opportunity to the Chargers former Pro Bowl center who was part of the 50th Anniversary Team. It may be a fresh NFL coaching experience for the 42-year-old. But if the head coach sees potential in the 305-pounder, all we can do is take his impressions on it.

Jim Harbaugh had been vocal about hiring experienced staff for the Chargers in his introductory press conference speech. According to him, his priority No. 1 is putting the staff together. He said, “We want an All-Star staff that’s worthy to coach our players.” And it looks like he’s on the right track as a recent tweet by Mike Garafolo revealed that “the Chargers are hiring their former Pro Bowl center Nick Hardwick as their assistant offensive line coach.”

Nick Hardwick played with the then San Diego Chargers for 11 seasons from 2004 to 2014 where he won Second-team All-Big Ten in 2003 and Pro Bowl in 2006. Before joining Harbaugh in his former NFL team, Hardwick served as the assistant coach for Westfield (Ind.) High School. This is a huge addition to the Chargers’ coaching staff, bringing in someone with Hardwick’s experience and knowledge of the game to assist as the OL coach. But amidst all these staff hiring, one of the best things that happened to the Chargers was Jim Harbaugh.
