Just when you thought the NFL was chillin’, the league started side-eyeing the most unstoppable play in football. Yep, the ol’ tush push. Some call it genius, others scream “ban it!” like it’s black magic (well, hello Green Bay Packers). But if you ask Jason Kelce, he’s gonna explain it like—it’s messy, gritty, “grueling,” and feels more like a full-body squat session than actual football.
The kicker? Well, his comments backfired. See, the Packers have adhered to ban the Tush Push. And now, Bills‘ owner, Terry Pegula, stood up to support their proposal—but not in a way you’d expected. Terry noted that the future Hall of Famer center Jason retired because of wear and tear from the tush push. To pour gasoline on the fire, Packers’ president, Mark Murphy, kinda read Jason’s statement sideways.
“I believe Jason Kelce has made public comments about, he’s glad he’s not involved in the play anymore because he felt it was pretty dangerous,” Murphy said. Uh-oh! You took a left turn on that one, Mark. Jason called Tush Push “grueling” and not dangerous if we’re not wrong, right? And let’s be real—Kelce has been the center of this infamous play. And he’s not going to ignore this mess.

I think the good gentleman from Buffalo appears to have misunderstood my meaning of the word grueling, I have never called the play dangerous. If the NFL wishes to summon me for legitimate thoughts on the tush push under oath, I’d be glad to give my testimony. pic.twitter.com/WKhRMLa47b

Right after that went down, Jason took to his official ‘X’ handle and justified the meaning behind his statement. “I think the good gentleman from Buffalo appears to have misunderstood my meaning of the word grueling, I have never called the play dangerous,” he wrote in his post.
Alright, time to hit the core of it. On the latest episode of New Heights Podcast with his brother, Travis Kelce, Jason described the most difficult part of the play for an offensive lineman.“It’s less of a grueling play of like being cold-cocked, and it’s more of a grueling play of like you gotta take a s— and it just won’t come out, and you’re just squeezing forever until that thing comes out,” that’s what Jason remarked about the infamous play, which by the way, his former team mastered it.
But it looks like the team’s owners read it sideways. Hence the mess.
No wonder even JJ Watt chimed in and took Kelce’s side.“Man, if we take everything that “sucks” and is “grueling” out of sports, there ain’t gonna be much left…,” he wrote in his ‘X’ post. The interesting part? Well, the Eagles legend declared that if the NFL wants him to give his legitimate thoughts on Tush Push, he’s all in.
What’s your perspective on:
Is the 'tush push' a stroke of genius or a dangerous play that needs banning?

Jason Kelce is ready to give his thoughts on Tush Push under oath
Ever wonder how wild the Tush Push can get? Picture this: it’s 4th-and-goal, everything’s on the line. And instead of overthinking it, the Eagles (because they’ve mastered it) just go caveman mode. That Week 3 game vs. the Bucs back in 2023? Jalen Hurts gets low, the O-line turns into a battering ram, and they just move bodies.

No wonder Jason Kelce called it grueling. Because let’s be real—Kelce spent his entire 13-season long career in Philly during which the Tush Push came into play. And when he says that the Tush Push is grueling, then the Eagles’ legend isn’t just talking the talk. The catch? It’s how the NFL owners and the execs see it. Some call it dangerous, others believes it as the reasons why Jason hung up his cleats.

But what about the man himself? Oh, that’s the amazing part. See, after the NFL owners and execs misinterpreted Jason’s quotes, the man admitted he’s ready to put his thoughts in front of the league’s officials for Tush Push. “If the NFL wishes to summon me for legitimate thoughts on the tush push under oath, I’d be glad to give my testimony,” Kelce wrote. Just like that.

The Tush Push has been the hottest topic in the league meetings lately. The NFL needs 24 out of 32 votes to ban this infamous play. However, for the time being, the NFL commissioner Roger Goodell just received 16 votes. And the conversation was tabled until May. If the reports are any true, Goodell wants to ban the Tush Push, and it’s be interesting to see if he summons Jason Kelce for his legitimate thoughts on the Tush Push under oath.
