Jason Kelce's hatred for the Patriots—Is it justified or just playful rivalry?

Jason Kelce’s got a bone to pick with the Patriots, and he ain’t shy about letting everyone know. On a wild trip down memory lane on The Pivot Podcast, the Eagles’  legend didn’t hold back, spilling the beans on why his brother, Travis Kelce, got schooled by Bill Belichick‘s crew and why he himself has nothing but pure, unfiltered hatred for the Pats.

“Nobody shut down Travis [Kelce] better than the Patriots, I’ll tell you that,” Jason let slip in front of Belichick. And trust, he was right on the money. The Pats’ defense is infamous for locking down elite tight ends like it’s their nine-to-five, and the Chiefs TE was no exception. Even one of the Patriots’ own threw in a cheeky, “We tried to shut you down too, but we couldn’t do it.” Jason, never one to flex too hard, responded with, “You got me many times. I always hated playing against you guys… the nose and everything.” That’s some raw, unfiltered honesty right there, painting just how fiery this Eagles-Patriots beef really is.

But this isn’t just about a couple of tough matchups. The former Eagles center’s grudge against New England goes way deeper than that. Philadelphia’s had their hearts broken more than a few times by the Pats, with some serious bruises along the way. But nothing stings more than that epic Super Bowl LII showdown in Feb. 2018. Sure, the Eagles snagged a 41-33 win, but it was way too difficult. Tom Brady threw for a record 505 yards; Stephen Gostkowski’s 26-yard kick hit was impeccable—yet Kelce and the Eagles’ D held their ground. That victory was more than just a win; it was a mic-drop moment!

So, what’s fueling all this hate? It’s not just the W-L column. It’s about the Patriots being that team no one wants to face—tough, crafty, and always ready to mess up your Sunday. And don’t think this beef ends on-field. It’s personal. Apparently, Travis Kelce’s got his own gripes with the Pats—something about how they treated Mama Kelce at a game, which still gets the Kelce brothers fired up.

Travis Kelce has no love for the Patriots fans who cross the line

Back in 2022, the Chiefs’ TE put the New England fanbase on blast, calling them out for taking their trash talk to a whole new level. On an episode of the New Heights podcast, Travis straight-up said Gillette Stadium in Foxborough is his least favorite spot to play. And it’s not just because of the icy weather or the fierce Pats defense. Nope, it’s the fans who’ve really got him riled up.

“I absolutely hate playing the Patriots. I’m mad at them for calling out my mom in the stands,” Kelce ranted. And he wasn’t joking around. Apparently, Pats fans don’t stop at taunting the players—they go after their moms, too. “Your momma jokes are cool, just when you say them to me — not my mom,” he added. “Like, when mom’s leaving the stadium, she’s getting heckled. That’s just (expletive) low blows, man.”
