Will Jason Kelce's macaroni necklace for Taylor Swift spark a new trend among Swifties?

Do you remember how Travis Kelce met Taylor Swift for the first time? Or, at least, planned to? Well, in the words of the pop star, “This all started when Travis very adorably put me on blast on his podcast, which I thought was metal as hell.”

Swift was referring to an (almost) incident that happened last July when she took the Eras Tour to Arrowhead Stadium, and all Kelce wanted was to meet her backstage and give her a friendship bracelet with his number on it. Was it his phone number or 87? “You know which one,” he cheekily told Jason Kelce on the July 26, 2023, episode of the New Heights podcast. However, Travis mentioned, “I was disappointed that she doesn’t talk before or after her shows.

“So I was a little b-tt hurt I didn’t get to hand her one of the bracelets I made for her.” He (like every Swiftie) took a page out of Swift’s song, ‘You’re On Your Own, Kid,’ which features the lyric, “Make the friendship bracelets.” That said, the Chiefs tight end added, “She doesn’t meet anybody [before or after the show], or at least she didn’t want to meet me, so I took it personal.” Shortly after, they started hanging out, and the rest is history. All this is to say that a handmade gift (or even just the intention behind it) can go a long way, something Jason Kelce seems to have caught on to.

On the November 22 episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live, the late-night host asked Kelce, “Do you as a brother at Christmas time buy individual gifts for Travis and Taylor, or will you buy them a couple’s gift, and what do you get them?” Well, on hearing Jimmy’s question, Jason found himself thinking about what could possibly impress two people who can seemingly get themselves whatever they want: “It’s tough to shop for people that can have anything that they want.” But that’s not to say that the 37-year-old has nothing planned.

“You gotta go to handmade gifts, something sentimental, maybe, that is near and dear to them.” Well, it’s not a bad idea, as handmade gifts can truly help you showcase the love you have for the person. However, there’s a small problem. When Jimmy asked whether Kelce had any experience with handmade gifts, he said, “I’ve never done it. But I think it would work really well,” prompting the crowd to burst out laughing. But he added, “I’ve got something up my sleeve this year… a macaroni necklace.

“It works on me and my kids very well,” the former Eagles center cheekily added. As the crowd erupted once more, Kimmel chimed in, “It would be funny if you make Taylor a macaroni necklace, and then, all of a sudden, millions of girls are wearing macaroni necklaces.” The late-night show host was evidently referring to the friendship bracelet trend started during the Eras Tour, something Jason Kelce has firsthand experience of.

Will Jason Kelce's macaroni necklace for Taylor Swift spark a new trend among Swifties?

Have an interesting take?

The 37-year-old doubled down on Kimmel’s statement: Friendship macaroni necklaces, we just started a trend.” Jimmy Kimmel couldn’t help but add, “I think the message here is, ‘Buy stock in macaroni. It’s about to skyrocket.'” Since the Eras Tour started – with Swifties trading handmade friendship bracelets with each other – the demand for bracelet-making materials has increased multifold (Michaels Stores reported their sales have gone up by 300% in the cities Taylor Swift has performed).

Coming back to Jason Kelce and his experience with friendship bracelets, remember how he made his first appearance at the Eras Tour in June when Swift was in London? Well, he seemed to be having a blast, considering the arm-full of bracelets he had on and was seen exchanging. In fact, he even proudly showed his collection to his wife, Kylie! That said, just as Swifties welcomed Travis Kelce on board with open arms, they did the same with his elder brother.

And the fanbase’s appreciation for the former NFL player has only increased since he defended not just his brother but also Taylor’s honor in an incident involving a phone, an unruly Penn State student, and a fuming Jason Kelce. As for his Christmas present for Tayvis this time around, we could very well see macaroni necklaces becoming the next friendship bracelets. But until then, Kelce fans have something else to look forward to after Jason dropped a major announcement on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

Jason Kelce is coming to late-night TV, folks!

Declaring himself as a huge fan of late-night shows, Jason Kelce is soon going to make his dream come true. His new show, They Call It Late Night with Jason Kelce, will premiere in 2025 during the NFL postseason. Sharing his thoughts on the idea, Jason conveyed, “I loved late-night shows, I’ve always loved them. I remember sleepovers watching Conan O’Brien with my friends.” Well, it’s now time for Jason to debut his own show on ESPN.

“Yes, I’m starting I believe it’s January 3rd—I hope it’s January 3rd!—we’ll be doing a late-night show during the postseason on ESPN. It’s going to be airing every Friday.” Although Jason will be starting his new gig soon, he will remain a part of Monday Night Football, “When I first approached ESPN with potentially working for them, Monday Night Football was a big part of that, Monday night countdown.”

This means his fans won’t miss out on his insights starting next year. Instead, he is set to double his air-time! Jason revealed the idea behind the show: “For me, the biggest thing that players miss when they leave the sport is being around the guys. Being able to have the show, where we’re gonna have a bunch of guys up there, legends of the game, friends that I’ve played with coaches, celebrities.”

Apart from hosting celebrities and players on his new late-night show, Jason will have a live band present on the set. And they would be playing ‘iconic NFL songs’ with a live audience behind them in Philadelphia. While the Kelce brothers have already garnered considerable attention through their New Heights Podcast, Jason Kelce is set to add ‘late-night TV host’ to his repertoire, too!
