The Taylor Swift fever has taken over the world of the NFL, in a bad way. Ever since she became public about her relationship with Travis Kelce, the 34-year-old global pop star has been on the receiving end of all the hate from football fans. After the Chiefs defeated the Ravens last night to qualify for the Super Bowl finals, it seems as if Swift is more of a talked-about entity than the match itself.

The Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Baltimore Ravens by a neat score of 17-10. It was a game with both sides giving it their all but somehow, the controversy started to spurn around Swift’s attendance in the crowd. The NFL realized a long time ago that Swift brings over 279 million fans with her name and they could capitalize on that by broadcasting her every so often. Due to this, the fans have been alleging that the match between the Ravens and the Chiefs was rigged to draw in more viewers when Swift attends the Super Bowl final. In response to these claims, Adam Schefter called out all these conspiracy theorists in his recent statement.

On the latest episode of the ‘Pat McAfee’ show, Adam Schefter sarcastically replied to Pat’s controversial question, which is all the fans can somehow talk about. He asked Schefter what his thoughts were on the NFL, rigging the Super Bowl just to have Taylor Swift in the stands for the finals. Moreover, his question was a dig at the loss for the Ravens at the hands of Patrick Mahomes and his team. Lastly, this is an indication of the fact that the games get a lot more coverage whenever the pop star is in attendance because of her global fanbase.

Schefter jokingly replied by saying, “Absolutely it was rigged. It was rigged. It had nothing to do with Patrick Mahomes, it had nothing to do with Travis Kelce, and nothing to do with how this champion has played. It had everything to do with the NFL scriptwriters and them wanting to make sure that they got Taylor Swift back from her concert in Tokyo. Because the ratings weren’t gonna be high enough so they wanted to make sure that they were even higher for the Super Bowl. The NFL managed to rig the game and now Taylor Swift will be there. It’s great.”

These jokes are indicative of the constant backlash that Swift receives every time she shows up to support the Chiefs and Travis Kelce. While the team prepares for their last battle against the 49ers, it will be interesting to see what happens when Swift shows up for the last time this season. With all that said, here’s a look at the revenue that Swift has raked in for the NFL.

Taylor Swift has brought in over 122 million for the NFL during her relationship with Travis Kelce

Travis Kelce confessing his feelings for the ‘Blank Space’ singer has got to be the best thing that has ever happened to the league. They could tap into an uncharted territory, which, as a result, garnered a lot more viewers for the sport. Through the “Taylor Swift” effect, she brought the NFL $122 million in brand value and increased ticket sales and viewership.

Moreover, ever since Kelce started dating Swift, his merchandise sales increased massively by 400%. Additionally, the Chiefs-Jets game was the second-highest-selling game of the NFL season. They also had over 24 million viewers, making it the most-watched NFL broadcast of that week. Thus in spite of Swift receiving constant hate for her somehow being bigger than the sport, the NFL continues to bandwagon off of her success all the way to the bank.
