Former NFL quarterback, and two-time Most Valuable Player, Kurtis Eugene Warner has had an illustrious career both on and off the field. His milestone achievement came in 2000 when he guided the St. Louis Rams to a Super Bowl victory. And later took on a very different kind of competition in 2010, participating in the 11th season of Dancing with the Stars. And through it all, he had the best support behind him.

Throughout his journey, there has been one persistent driving force that has pushed him towards achieving his dreams, even at the cost of their own- and that, as often acknowledged by Warner himself, is his wife, Brenda Warner. On their 26th anniversary, Brenda took to her Instagram account to share an iconic wedding picture accompanied by a powerful message.?

She had earlier shared the iconic picture on the couple’s 22nd anniversary and had dedicated the caption to appreciating their journey together, full of “commitment, sacrifice, forgiveness” and above all, love.??

The couple first met in the early 1990s. At the time, Brenda was four years Kurts? senior, recently divorced and with two kids, and certainly not looking for love. At the same time, Kurt was 21 and a student at the University of Northern Iowa, where he played QB and aspired to make it to the NFL. The two met accidentally while line dancing at a country bar and the rest is pretty much history. Five children and 12 successful NFL seasons with a Super Bowl MVP title later the couple happily pronounce themselves the true American Underdogs.?

However, the retired quarterback?s wacky NFL player safety rules alternative ideas have captured equal amounts of attention, but not the most favorable, to say the least.?

Kurt Warner?s wacky NFL player safety rules alternative idea?

In its efforts to minimize head injuries in the NFL, the league imposes penalties on players who make hits against “defenseless” players. While the league provides eleven specific examples ? the core rule boils down to the fact that defenders cannot deliver heavy hits to opponents who are not ready for contact. The defenseless players in question are usually the receivers who are navigating the middle of the field while attempting to make a catch. In such situations, Warner raised concerns about penalizing the person who threw the risky pass, namely the quarterback.?

“You all know I’m all about player safety… but this whole defenseless WR penalty when it’s the QB leading them into a waiting defender is a bad rule IMO… the flag should be thrown on the QB,” the former quarterback wrote on platform X?

Regardless of the fact that it was made with the player?s safety in mind, the idea seems quite unreasonable in terms of practicality. It would put unnecessary pressure on the quarterback to not make crucial throws in fright of getting flagged. As rightly pointed out by a Reddit user, “LMAO the optics of this would be horrifying.”?While player safety is a priority, Warner?s suggestion might be a bit far-fetched.
