The NFL Combine gave everyone a good look at the upcoming draft class last weekend. But it threw surprises for many agents. In the most important position on the gridiron, the draft class has two prospects that stand out. Cam Ward (Miami) and Shedeur Sanders (Colorado). They had very similar 2024 NCAA seasons, with Ward just an inch ahead of his rival, with 4,313 passing yards to Sanders’ 4,134 passing yards. Now, the legends from the league are sharing their observations.

Super Bowl winner and Hall of Fame signal caller Kurt Warner assessed the QB class in the upcoming draft. On March 5, he tweeted, “So I’ve watched 3+ games of 5 draftable QBs & I feel you have Ward as the outlier with some ‘unique’ throwing ability & then you have 4 other guys that are basically the same guy in how they play.” But he didn’t comment on if he thought Ward would be picked up first.

Instead, the HOFer left the decision to the NFL teams, citing the preferences and the team playing strategies will play a huge role. That’s right. In 2024, Shedeur Sanders had 37 TDs and 10 interceptions, while Cam Ward had 39 TDs and 7 interceptions. So, both have a fighting heart in them.

However, there is another big factor that no team could exclude. It was evident in the NFL Combine when both stood on the podium. Shedeur Sanders exuded the confidence inherited from his family, particularly his father Deion Sanders‘ influence, with a necklace around his neck. Cam Ward was fundamentally different, revealing his life journey as a footballer and his expectations.

Both of them are immensely talented. And many teams need a quarterback who could turn into a franchise signal caller. The NY Giants are a front runner among them.

NFC East team fighting for top spot amid Cam Ward-Shedeur Sanders drama

The Giants pick 3rd in the 2025 NFL Draft. But not only them, the NY Jets are also in contention. So, both are trying to reach an agreement with the no. 1 pick holder-Titans GM Mike Borgonzi, who claimed they could swap places with other teams for a favorable deal.

Will Cam Ward's 'unique' throwing ability make him the top pick over Shedeuer Sanders?

The NFC East franchise struggled for the past 6 seasons with Daniel Jones. So John Mara fulfilled the quarterback’s request to leave the franchise. But they ended the season with a 4-12 win-loss record. So, they need someone who can hold the locker room together.

Other teams are also spicing up the Shedeur Sanders-Cam Ward drama. The 2nd placed team in the 2025 Draft, the Cleveland Browns, invited some players from the 2025 draft class. It included Sanders, Abdul Carter, and Travis Hunter. But it missed one big name. Cam Ward! No doubts about who they think is the better QB for them.

The league is going to heat up as we move closer to the draft. Before that, the free agency is upon us. So, brace yourselves for some shockers!
