Colin Kaepernick is finally back on the NFL field, only this time around, it is fictional. The former San Francisco 49ers’ quarterback’s football fantasy might be on hold, but he recently took to his Instagram account to proudly announce his feature beside reigning NFL MVP Patrick Mahomes, and Josh Allen on an arcade-style football game produced by Playground Sports. This marks the first appearance of Kaepernick as a playable character since Madden NFL 22, which was released for the 2021 season.

Kaepernick had previously written to the New York Jets’ team seeking an opportunity to fill up the larger shoes of Aaron Rodgers whose season-ending injury created a looming void in the team’s depth chart. While Zach Wilson stomps on his quarterback dreams, his squeamish practice squad leader dreams seem to see no signs of fruition. After rapper and friend J Cole published the free-agent letter to the Jets’ manager, many deemed it desperate and sad, but nothing comes close to being as sad as beer brewer Bud Light’s Colin Kaepernick satire.

Playground Sports recently released a trailer for their upcoming arcade-style football game, Wild Card Football, to be released on Tuesday, which featured among other MVPs, free agent Colin Kaepernick. The free agent took to his social media accounts to promote the game, captioning it, You don’t want to miss out on the best football game! Use your power ups and become a game changer! Check out Wild Card Football!”

The seven-on-seven arcade-style simulation is officially licensed by the NFL Players Association and features more than 150 wild card features that can be utilized to alter the momentum of the game. Additionally, the game allows the players to personalize their teams, and jerseys alternate between single-player mode or competitive multiplayer action. Players can even choose to create a unique logo, select their home stadium, and craft a playbook tailored to the abilities of each player on their roster.

The game will be available on all platforms from Tuesday including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch. While his audience was quick to revert with positive remarks with most eager to check out the new game, Kaepernick found himself at the bottom of yet another sad satire, this time orchestrated by beer brewer Bud Light.

A controversial claim had recently been doing its around on the internet that featured an article informing that beer brewer Bud Light had signed Colin Kaepernick as their brand ambassador. However, like many other things being circulated around the internet, this one too was flagged as fake soon after.

Snopes, on Twitter, shot down the story saying, “However, this story was not true. SpaceXMania.com describes its output as being satirical in nature, both on its “About Us” page and as a label above articles.” The original article even featured references to Kaepernick’s infamous act of kneeling during the national anthem, which was a demonstration of protest against racial demonstration back in 2016.

The quarterback has remained without a team since then. His desperate efforts to re-enter a system that he had previously denounced had drawn polarizing comments but his wishful move of approaching NFL teams outright and getting ignored has turned a once rising NFL star into a sad satirical portrait.
