“No man stands taller than when he stoops to help a child” is a sentiment that struck a chord with Nick Saban Sr. Thus, inspired by this belief, legendary coach Nick Saban and his wife, Terry Saban, established the Nick’s Kids Foundation in his honor. They started it way back in 1998 to help kids, students, their teachers, and families. From constructing career tech classrooms and playgrounds to juvenile detention centers, the foundation has done some holistic help over the years.
After a thrilling SEC championship win against Georgia in 2023, Saban’s Crimson Tide team, known for their “Let All Naysayers Know” (LANK) slogan, decided to celebrate uniquely. Instead of a lavish party, they partnered with Nick’s Kids Foundation to build a Habitat for Humanity house, aptly named “The LANK House.”
However, the mission of Nick’s Kids Foundation is not a solitary one. The entire Saban family, including Nick’s daughter Kristen Saban, son Nicholas Saban, and daughter-in-law Samira Saban, are dedicated supporters of the foundation. They actively organize engaging events like golf tournaments and luncheons to raise funds for children in need. These funds are then distributed as grants to those who require them the most. The recent kickstart of the 2024 annual Nicks Kids Foundation event by Saban & Co, with Samira Saban sharing heartwarming photos from the gathering held at the Old Overton Club, is a testament to their ongoing commitment.

Nick Saban shook the college football community when he retired early this year. That, too, just after winning the SEC title and paving the way for the “LANK” house. However, all ties are not entirely severed as Saban still earns from Alabama through a talent fee. He secured a long contract with Alabama worth $93 million until 2029. This breaks down into two parts — a steady yearly salary of $305,000 and a special “talent fee” that increases over time, up to $12 million by the end of the contract. On top of that, Alabama agreed to donate $100,000 each year to Saban’s Nick’s Kids Foundation until 2025.
Even with all the well-planned contracts, Saban isn’t slowing down. He landed a great deal with ESPN as an analyst on their Game Day show. Thus, between this and his well-planned deals with Alabama, his family and foundation seem secure for the next few years.
