Tom Brady taking on Zuckerberg—Is this the wake-up call we need about online privacy?

NFL legend Tom Brady continues to make headlines! That too, this time falling for a scam message! The former New England Patriots quarterback joined other celebrities like Jessica Chastain, Luke Evans, and Cynthia Erivo in reposting a viral “attorney” statement on Instagram.

The statement reportedly claimed that Meta, the parent company of Instagram and Facebook, would have the right to use users’ “information and photos” unless they reposted it to protect themselves. Many celebrities, including Brady, shared it, in order to mark their voice against Mark Zuckerberg’s invasion of privacy.

The statement read: “Goodbye Meta AI. Please note an attorney has advised us to put this on, failure to do so may result in legal consequences. As Meta is now a public entity all members must post a similar statement. If you do not post at least once it will be assumed you are okay with them using your information and photos. I do not give Meta or anyone else permission to use any of my personal data, profile information, or photos.” Brady even captioned his post with “Repub,” but soon after, he deleted the IG story.

According to several prominent websites, these sorts of warnings will not prevent Meta from exploiting their content. Not only this, but many other versions of such statements are taking the internet by storm.

Amidst Mark Zuckerberg’s security concerns, Brady’s action regarding Meta AI obviously inspires many of his fans. However, this is not the first time the retired NFL quarterback has been evocative of his interest in Meta AI.

Allegedly, the NFL five five-time MVP player was paid millions of dollars for his AI chatbot likeness. Reportedly, Brady’s chatbot is named ‘Bru’ and is being marketed as a sports debater. At that time, Zuckerberg also gave insight into the Meta’s AI-powered celebrity Bot. “This isn’t just gonna be about answering queries. This is about entertainment and about helping you do things to connect with the people around you,” the CEO of Facebook added.

And in no time, Brady’s AI-powered chatbot became pretty much popular amongst fans. Previously, Brady’s advanced Bot was in the limelight when it trashed Colin Kaepernick, former NFL quarterback. It even gave an alternate explanation for Kaepernick’s absence from the 49ers, saying that he just plain s-cks at football. It went on to elaborate further on Kaepernick’s absence saying, “ Kaepernick ain’t playing ’cause he ain’t good enough and teams don’t want the drama,” Brady’s AI added.

However, Tom Brady’s link-up with technology has become familiar now. He has also been associated with an NFL startup technology company, Autograph, as a co-founder. Reportedly, it was established in 2021. Additionally, his association with FTX, a cryptocurrency exchange, was well publicized before he had to suffer a significant downturn. It seems like Brady is actively exploring the domain of advanced technology to accentuate his presence.
