Outside football, a recent viral tee shot has brought the former Patriots quarterback, Tom Brady to the limelight of attention. Not being able to deliver as expected at the Pro-Am golf event at Pebble Beach on Friday, February 2, during a Spotify podcast, in his defense Brady took big names.

Despite Brady’s unparalleled success in football, he shed light on the inherent difficulty of golf, by mentioning big names like Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and Roy Mcllroy. Brady’s response underscores the universal truth that golf is inherently challenging. 

Brady’s humility on the golf course 

During the Spotify podcast, the co-ost addressed the concern of the masses about why the sport seems nerve-wracking for Brady despite his dominance in football with seven Super Bowl titles. To this, Brady responded with humility confirming that golf is not easy for anyone and claimed, “It’s hard for Tiger Woods. Golf is hard for Phil Mickelson. Golf is hard for Roy Mcllroy. Why shouldn’t it be hard for us”. To sum up, even the most accomplished athletes had to go through a similar situation, Brady being comparatively new to the sport had experienced. 

The tussle between the mental challenge and his passion for golf has been so much so that Brady makes a humorous confession, “But there is part of me when I get out there in those events and it’s all good until the day you get there when you go, “Why did I sign up for this? Why am I paying?”  Not that I am getting paid to do it. But I am paying to do it.” This statement underscores the love and passion that athletes like Brady have for golf. It speaks to the essence of sport, where they willingly invest time, effort and resources just for the sheer joy that the sport brings.

Woods’ rough outlook on golf

Similar to Brady, last year, former American football star Antonio Brown had been subjected to social media attention for his unconventional antics on the golf course. However, unlike Brady, instead of opting for a professional platform, he attempted a shot at a local course. He faced a comical struggle on his first try that led to social media fans poking fun at him. 

In regard to the difficulty level of the game, previously Woods had come up with an open revelation. The golf icon expressed how it was difficult for the golfers who left the PGA Tour failing to cope under pressure. With time the tensions between the warring circuits have intensified acknowledging the prime level of difficulty in golf. 

To conclude, Tom Brady in the podcast has been bitterly honest regarding the difficulties of golf. With this, he acknowledged the shared struggles with golfing legends adding a refreshing perspective on the sport.
