While the marriage of Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen may not have been written for a fairy-tale ending, their early years together are nothing short of a couple’s goal many people strive for. And along their journey together, the NFL GOAT’s ex-wife touched the hearts of some of his friends. 

Tom Brady’s former teammate at New England Patriots, Drew Bledsoe has nothing but respect for him even though he permanently replaced him as the starting QB in 2001 during an injury. A large part of this respect came from his ex-wife Gisele Bündchen and the first impression she gave Bledsoe when they met for the first time.

Drew Bledsoe didn’t cover it up. He admitted that there is definitely something that strikes inside when it’s about a person who took your spot. But in his appearance on YouTube’s Up & Adams Show, he also said, “There is never a problem directly between the two of us. We always had great respect.” He went on to narrate a Montana ski incident where he met his former teammate Tom Brady and his wife Gisele Bündchen whom he was meeting for the first time.

In a fumbling moment, Drew Bledsoe made his first acquaintance with the Brazilian supermodel by spraying snow all over her. But surprisingly, Gisele Bündchen gave Bledsoe a big hug, the reason she explained later at dinner. She told Bledsoe the reason for her big hug is because of how familiar he is in Brady’s household as she said as quoted by Bledsoe, “I normally don’t give people big hugs when I first meet them. But you don’t understand how you’re talked about in our house.” This statement touched Bledsoe very deeply as he fondly views it as an “incredibly cool and very genuine compliment.” It put him in a vulnerable position that while Tom Brady might have got his starting role, he still looks up to his senior.

Tom Brady and Drew Bledsoe came together during the 2024 Netflix Roast with Tom Brady which also saw the presence of both New England Patriots legends and comedians. From Kevin Hart and Will Ferrell to Robert Kraft and Julian Edelman, the roast was a well-wrapped one except for the part where the roasts targeted for Gisele Bündchen went off-limits. 

Following the roast, Bündchen expressed that she was disappointed and offended by certain open roasts. But hopefully, the situation won’t escalate far because Tom Brady reportedly reached out and apologized to his ex-wife. One got to admire the couple’s mutual respect for each other despite their divorce last year.
