“I’m in a different place in my life. I’m able to choose more of what I want,” said Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bündchen to Lee Cowan in an exclusive interview with CBS News Sunday Morning, which aired on Sunday, September 24 on CBS and streamed on Paramount+. Her self-healing journey post her separation from NFL legend Tom Brady has been primarily about being able to choose the right things for herself. Or, as the 43-year-old mother of two likes to put it, “Putting the oxygen mask on yourself first”. However, that hardly means she is any less grateful for her ex-husband and their kids together!

At her part-time home in Costa Rica, secluded and sheltered away from the glamorous and demanding city life, Bündchen is finally able to let her true self flourish. She mentioned how she can now get to be herself away from the limelightwhich is someone, contrary to popular belief, who is “not the spotlight loving personality you might think.”

“I feel like whenever it rains, it pours,” said the runway sensation, referring to her journey so far, studded with both highs and lows. In October 2022, the former couple made a joint announcement about their divorce, following 13 years of marriage. However, they retained a cordial relationship in hopes of working together as a “team” in co-parenting their children.

Together Brady and Bundchen share a 12-year-old son named Benjamin, a 9-year-old daughter named Vivian, and a 15-year-old son named Jack from Brady’s previous relationship with actress Bridget Moynahan. Despite the painful separation, Gisele remains thankful for Brady, as she said, “he’s the father of my kids, so I always wish him the best, and I’m so grateful that he gave me wonderful children.”
