What’s the one question in sports that generates the most debate among fans? It’s the GOAT debate. And well, for the NFL we could have had an answer to that if the Chiefs had won that 3-peat, but alas!! that couldn’t happen. So if not the Chiefs, who then, which team is the greatest in NFL history? That’s a challenging question, isn’t it? Well, not for Terry Bradshaw.
Recently, the 76-year-old shared his thoughts with talkSPORT and had a definitive answer on this. Despite the recent success of the Chiefs and the impressive Brady–Belichick dynasty, Bradshaw declared his Steelers as the greatest team. Surprising? Well, not really.
The question is, why does Bradshaw believe that? Well, the answer wasn’t just based on nostalgia or bias, the Steelers legend actually shared the reason behind his remarks: “What I’m most proud of are our four Super Bowls; it was the same team.” But is that claim accurate?

The records certainly support it. Over six seasons, the Steelers won the Super Bowl four times, with the core team remaining intact. Led by head coach Chuck Noll and Bradshaw, the roster included Franco Harris, Lynn Swann, Rocky Bleier, John Stallworth, and Mean Joe Greene, all of whom contributed to those victories.
Another very important point that Bradshaw makes is how back then, they didn’t really have the luxury of making trades like today’s teams. Unlike now, where teams can easily replace players, the Steelers had to draft their Super Bowl-winning team and were pretty much committed to it. Well, winning four Super Bowls in that era is indeed commendable, and Bradshaw stands by his belief that their accomplishments surpass those of modern teams like the Chiefs.
In his discussion with talkSPORT, he stated, “The only difference between today’s teams and those of the ’70s is that we drafted our Super Bowl teams. Nowadays, they try to create a team by picking players.” He added, “Then they say, ‘Oh, Tyreek Hill is unhappy; we’re trading him to Miami.’ But who will replace him? ‘Oh, look, (JuJu Smith-Schuster) is available’.” Bradshaw has a point with this perspective, and currently, the Steelers seem do hold the advantage over the Chiefs in that regard.
But it’s not over yet; Patrick Mahomes is just 29 and has plenty of time ahead. If the Chiefs and Mahomes win another Super Bowl, could the debate swing in their favor? Mahomes appears ready for the challenge, planning to return with a mission in the 2025 season.
Patrick Mahomes will look for revenge
“True strength in life is not about walking through life without ever falling; it’s about getting up each time you do.” The Eagles certainly proved this as they came back with a vengeance and took their revenge against the Chiefs, dominantly winning the Super Bowl. And seems like it’s now time for Mahomes and Co. to do the same.
No matter how cliché it sounds, ‘getting up‘ holds great value. This is precisely what champions do, and well, Patrick Mahomes is a champion. After the loss that the Chiefs faced against the Eagles, it’s easy to lose hope, especially for someone like Mahomes, who arguably had his worst performance in the most important game of his career.

So what will Mahomes do now? Well, it looks like he will be back with a vengeance. It was Charles Omenihu who talked about this, knowing Mahomes, the Chiefs DE said, “On a revenge tour, just extreme focus, taking even more control of the organization.” That’s a terrifying thought for the opposition teams. Well, what else can be expected of a champion player like Mahomes, or did we forget what he did last time they lost a Super Bowl?

The man went on a mission, running 4,839 yards with 37 touchdowns the next season. And well now he has promised his fans, “We will be back,” and it looks like the preparation for the same has already started. The Chiefs are looking towards getting somebody like Keenan Allen into the team, and add to that Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy, well it looks like a terrifying offense again.
It will be great to see how Mahomes returns next season, knowing him he is sure to light the field on fire, and who knows he might just end up leading the Chiefs to another Super Bowl victory. But will that be enough to establish them as the greatest-ever team in NFL history? I mean, even if he wins a Super Bowl, it’s not gonna be an ‘unprecedented‘ one.
