Young. Fresh out of college. Zero sports knowledge. A woman trying to break into a male-dominated industry. The odds were stacked against 23-year-old Erin Andrews when she landed her first broadcasting gig with the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2001 which came with a steep learning curve. But HC John Tortorella, who saw more than just a rookie in Andrews, made her feel welcome. “I walked up to him and said, ‘Hi, I’m Erin Andrews. I don’t know anything about the NHL, but I’m willing to listen and learn,’ “ she recalled. This moment marked the start of a splendid career as just two months later, Andrews stunned Tortorella with a sharp question during a presser.

Andrews has been that girl on the NFL sidelines for years—bringing fans exclusive interviews, catching all the emotional moments, and basically being the queen of sports broadcasting. “I think when I went to Fox, I really was able to… show who I was. I remember somebody telling me like, We want to see you smile and have fun with the players. We want your personality to come out,'” Andrews recalled her initial days with Fox on her own podcast Calm Down. She is such a fan who really enjoys what she is doing. However, Erin’s good time at Fox may have come to an end, leaving fans wondering what’s next for the 46-year-old broadcasting icon.

Beyond the Xs and Os, it’s always been about the people she works with. Recalling the best day of her life, Erin’s favorite NFL moment is far from an NFL stadium. Tom Brady, who was calling it a career after 22 seasons in football, did not have anyone out there during his final training session but Erin. “Tom said, ‘EA, I need you,’ and I said, ‘For what?’ And he goes, ‘You gotta shag balls, girl, I don’t have anyone out here,’” she said.

Knowing how competitive Brady has been his whole career, Andrews readied herself to assist the NFL legend. Andrews’ husband Jarret Stoll, who was also on this picnic and was catching Brady’s throws, told Andrews ‘Go run it to him.’ Every time Jarret would catch Brady’s throw, he would pass it to Erin who would put them in a duffle bag until it was full. Recalling this moment on Calm Down with Charissa Thompson, Andrews said, “I did this probably like ten times and each time I’d run the bag back…he’s like, ‘Thanks, thanks EA.’ And I was like, ‘Best day of my life.’”

Now, Just three days after the Super Bowl LIX, Andrews dropped a heartfelt Insta post with her entire Fox Sports crew, writing, “I love football. I love covering the players, coaches, staffs, and teams. But I love it more when I get to do it with my work family/team.” Considering her contract is up after the 2024 season, fans are putting on their detective hats, wondering if this is her soft-launch goodbye. Nothing’s official yet, but the vibes are definitely giving “new chapter loading” vibes.

Andrews’ career has been legendary. She started small—grinding as a reporter in Florida, covering hockey and other sports—before ESPN scooped her up in 2004. From there, she took over college football and MLB broadcasts like a total pro. Then, in 2012, she leveled up with Fox Sports, where she became a core part of NFL coverage. Whether she’s sideline reporting or interviewing the biggest names in the game, she’s always brought her signature mix of energy, humor, and deep sports knowledge.

But Erin Andrews isn’t just about sports—she’s built an empire. She co-hosted Dancing with the Stars, launched her own clothing line, and co-founded WEAR, making sportswear for women actually cool. She’s also been super open about her health struggles, including her battle with cervical cancer, using her platform to spread awareness.

Reflecting on the 2024 NFL Season, Brady thanked his teammates at Fox NFL and made it clear that he is not going away from Fox NFL anytime soon. “The 2024 @nfl season is in the books 💯 It certainly was a new challenge to undertake but I couldn’t have asked for a better team to be a part of and learn from!… It’s always been about the TEAM and I’m lucky to be part of this great one @foxsports,” Brady wrote on Instagram.

Well, even though Brady aced his first season with Fox NFL, we can not ignore his other responsibility—the minority owner of the Raiders. His role was crucial in hiring John Spytek as the GM and Pete Carroll as the head coach of the team. Now when the NFL season is officially over, the minority Raiders owner will shift his focus on landing a new QB for the 2025 season. Whatever happens, Brady made it pretty clear that he is not leaving Fox NFL anytime soon.
