With this accomplishment, he shaved off a tenth of a second from his time at the NFL Combine in 2000. This achievement has opened the scope for Brady to try his luck for the eighth ring that he can earn this year. The reasons goes as the quarterback’s resilience in to work on one of the most-attacked areas in his career, that is speed. However, to be able to reach this place, he has diligently worked on himself. His improved speed, outstanding physical fitness and impressive game strategy & IQ are all marks that he could still compete on the gridiron for his 8th ring.
He stays at the top of his game with the help of his trainer, Alex Guerrero. Under his guidance, Brady follows the TB12 workout opting for resistance over traditional weights and prioritizing speed and agility. Hence, in terms of fitness games, he can match up to the 2024 QB prospects. Interestingly, he holds the skills to understand defensive fronts and moves off the midline only when necessary. Other than challenging the 2024 recruit prospects, this accolade allows Brady to rewrite his narrative.

Reflecting on Brady’s journey from the 2000 NFL Combine, the performance of the quarterback had been underwhelming. He managed to achieve a time stamp of 5.28 seconds in the 40-yard dash. Along with this, a 24.5-inch vertical and 99-inch broad jump had placed him at the bottom of the percentiles among quarterbacks. His compromising speed made him the target of former NFL player and now CBS analyst, Tony Romo’s playful jab.
During the match between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Buffalo Bills, in December 2021, Romo passed a mocking remark, “He’s slow, right? He can’t actually make someone miss.” Living with this discredit, is few days back Brady decided to give himself ‘one more shot’. It seems Brady has been able to fulfill his goal of removing his label as a ‘system-type player’.
