Should Terry Bradshaw step down from Fox NFL Sunday after his repeated on-air blunders?

Over the past year, Hall of Famer defensive end Michael Strahan had dark clouds hovering above his daughter Isabella’s life. She was diagnosed with medulloblastoma—a rare type of brain cancer—in October 2023 and when Strahan found the strength to reveal it to the public in January, he stated, “It’s been, like, two months of keeping it quiet, which is definitely difficult. I don’t wanna hide it anymore ‘cause it’s hard to always keep in.” In fact, Isabella went through surgery on October 27, 2023—a day before her 19th birthday.

But in September this year, Strahan shared some great news. “Isabella is great! She’s cancer-free,” Michael Strahan told Jimmy Fallon. “It was a rough year, but we got through it, and she’s cancer-free. She’s back in college.”

The road to recovery was a tough one. A couple of years ago, Isabella realized she couldn’t walk in a straight line. While on a hike, her friends too got worried about her. What followed was her cancer diagnosis, three surgeries, along with six weeks of radiation and four rounds of chemotherapy. She had to learn how to walk and talk all over again—something that could change anyone’s perspective on life.

But seeing your kid go through so much can be disturbing, and that’s what happened with Michael Strahan. At one time, he even feared for her death and began thinking about his own retirement.

In a conversation with Town & County, he shared, “I’ve always had those thoughts [retirement]. It will happen at some point. It’s not happening anytime soon. The kids are still in school. I’m empty-nesting again. I have loved having the energy and noise and arguing around the house, but I’m just so happy for Isabella to get back to college. I want her to have that sense of independence again, because my kids can’t grow if they’re under my shade.”

“I’m not planning on retiring anytime soon. I will at some point, and I’d like to say a lot sooner than a lot of people probably think I will. When I do it, it will be because I just want to have the freedom to be with her and her sister, and her other sister and brother. Wherever they are, whatever they’re doing, I want to be there.”

Now that Isabella is cancer-free, Strahan doesn’t seem to have thoughts about retiring in the near future. Back when she was diagnosed with cancer, Strahan didn’t go to work for three weeks.

“I missed GMA, my football show, everything. To be honest with you, none of it mattered. Being at work or being at the hospital: What was the most important thing? You have to figure that out and make whatever the best decision is for you and your family. And that’s what I did.”

“I think going back to work was also good—it normalized things for me. I thought, Okay, we’re going to get back on track with life. To go to work, come home, take her to radiation—that cycle, routine. To have the support of people at GMA and Fox was a godsend.”

Although the Fox NFL Sunday presenter isn’t thinking about retirement anytime soon, his co-host Terry Bradshaw could be counting his final days in the studio.

Amid Michael Strahan’s confession, Terry Bradshaw is urged to retire

His repeated mistakes during commentary have caught fans’ attention, thereby calling for him to retire. One of his biggest slip-ups came when he called Falcons QB Kirk Cousins “Kerry Collins.” And that wasn’t all. Going back to last month, while covering a pre-game show for Fox, Bradshaw started talking about Browns RB Nick Chubbs’ return from injury, even though highlights of the Bills vs Titans were playing.

“Whoops, wrong one,” he corrected himself, but these are just a few of the many instances that have taken place. Such repeated blunders led to fans requesting his retirement. In addition to this, Terry Bradshaw too has had health scares with cancer in the past; Specifically bladder and skin cancers.

But in October 2022, he announced that he was cancer-free, and while that was great news, he will continue to have regular checkups.
