If you grew up watching Eddie George truck defenders as they owed him money, you already know the man was built differently. The stiff arms? Ruthless. The runs? Straight-up punishing. But post-NFL life? That’s where things get tricky. Some guys go into broadcasting, some try their luck in business, and some just, well… disappear into the sunset. But not George. He’s been cooking something up on the sidelines, trading in his helmet for a headset.

George was surely born in Philly, but it won’t be wrong if we say Tennessee is his second home. The reason? The former RB played for the Tennessee Oilers/Titans for most of his career. Fast forward to 2021 and George was named as the head coach of the Tennessee State Tigers. George is now entering the final season of his five-year ($400K per year) deal with the FCS Tennessee State.

And just when you thought that he’d sign a contract extension with the Tigers, the HC just decided to switch the team. Go on, give it a second read. On Sunday, it was reported that Eddie George has agreed to become the next head football coach at Bowling Green State University. Yeah, you read that right.

The Bowling Green State University interviewed three finalists at the Westin at Detroit Metro Airport on Friday. Besides, Eddie George, UMass offensive coordinator Mike Bajakian, and Oklahoma State quarterbacks coach Kevin Johns were interviewed on Friday. Just a day later on Saturday, the BG officials extended a head coaching offer to George. And guess what? The former Cowboys RB has reportedly agreed to join.

After grinding in the NFL for almost a decade, George didn’t just step into coaching—he dove in headfirst, no floaties. The guy took the helm back in 2021, and since then, he’s been grinding, turning the Tigers into legit contenders. Last season? That’s where he showed the team’s true potential. George led the Tennessee State Tigers to a conference title and an FCS playoff spot, even snagging Coach of the Year honors.

Fast forward to now and he’s ready to lead the BG State University. Though George’s contract terms with FCS Tennessee State aren’t confirmed yet, but one thing’s for sure: he’s going to replace someone who’s ready to join Nick Sirianni in 2025.

Nick Sirianni includes the former BG State’s HC to the Eagles

The Philadelphia Eagles are surely looking to establish a dynasty under Jalen Hurts and Nick Sirianni’s leadership. First, they crushed the Chiefsthree-peat dreams in the Super Bowl LIX. And now? Well, they’re making their off-season moves. Oh no, we aren’t talking about Saquon Barkley’s contract extension (of course, it was a solid move). However, we’re talking about their coaching staff changes.

In late February, Nick Sirianni’s Eagles signed the former Bowling Green Falcons’ head coach, Scot Loeffler as their next quarterback coach. Yeah, you guessed that right. Loeffler was the HC of the BG Falcons for six seasons. He went 27-41 with the Falcons, but led his team to bowl appearances in each of the past three seasons. Now, he’s all set to replace Doug Nussmeier for the Eagles. Not just that, his former team, the BG Falcons were forced to search for a HC candidate. However, their search has finally come to an end, as they have reportedly signed Eddie George for the role.

“Scot has been dedicated to not only BGSU Football, but to all our student-athletes and BGSU Athletics, as well as our Falcon Marching Band and spirit programs,” university president Rodney Rogers said in a statement. “He cares deeply about player development and student success, and we wish him all the best as he continues his coaching career in the NFL with the Super Bowl-winning Philadelphia Eagles.”

Loeffler is returning to the NFL after 17 years. Back in 2008, the 50-year-0ld was the QB coach of the Detroit Lions. Speaking of his coaching career, the guy also served as the quarterback coach at his alma mater from 2002 to 2007 at Michigan. Well, now that Nick Sirianni and the Eagles have hired Loeffler as their QB coach, no doubt, they are looking forward to an equally thrilling 2025 season.
