It looks like Pro Football Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe has put himself in a potentially long-term relationship with ESPN. Eight months ago, he joined ESPN by appearing on First Take on the Monday and Tuesday editions and he seems to have got himself a contract extension. But after his playing career, he already has enough experience working as a media analyst since the early 2000s for him to enjoy this well-deserved contract.

After playing the role of an NFL analyst for CBS’ The NFL Today, Shannon Sharpe joined Skip Bayless on Undisputed which premiered in 2016. He co-hosted his last appearance on June 13, 2023, after which he joined ESPN’s First Take alongside Stephen A. Smith in September. And now, only bright things lay in store for Sharpe as an extension deal is in the process of getting finalized.

As per the contract, Sharpe will be a regular face on First Take and it also has indications that he could also make some appearances on NFL programming. The retired TE is a 3x Super Bowl champion who had 14 seasons of experience playing in the NFL. So, his NFL experience and his former stints as a football analyst paved the way for this glorious deal which he highly deserves.

Shannon Sharpe brings a lot of high-quality entertainment and wit to the table so, it didn’t take ESPN long to sign him after he departed from FS1. He previously signed a contract extension with ESPN for continued appearances on First Take throughout the NBA regular season. He even had ESPN present a live show at his alma mater Savannah State University.

By signing Sharpe for another four years, ESPN would be making a wise choice to receive the service of someone who is known to garner ratings wherever he lands. Sharpe has already found success in Shay Shay Media where he hosts two podcasts – Club Shay Shay and Nightcap which are in collaboration with The Volume. There’s no doubt that he’s going to become one of the most prominent faces of ESPN.
