The E1 Series, the upcoming electric powerboat championship, is gearing up for its inaugural season with notable investors. Seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady has joined the E1 World Championship as a celebrity team owner, joining tennis great Rafael Nadal and Formula One driver Sergio Perez in the electric race boat competition. Brady’s team will be the fifth entry in the E1 World Championship, scheduled to debut in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Co-founder and CEO Rodi Basso discussed the journey of gauging team owners’ interest in attracting renowned investors, emphasizing the positive impact of their mission to promote clean technologies and protect race locations. His competition, centered on electric race boats, is set to kick off in early 2024 and anyone willing to witness it from close quarters can quickly make a run for the tickets. 

E1 World Championship: Teams and Tickets

The debut of the E1 World Championship is set to showcase eight teams, with the recent inclusion of Team Brazil owned by tech entrepreneur Marcelo Claure. Drivers Timmy Hansen and Catie Munnings will represent Team Brazil in the seven-event season, spanning Jeddah, Europe, and concluding in Hong Kong. Claure, alongside high-profile team owners such as Tom Brady and Rafa Nadal, expresses excitement about E1’s impact on powersports, with a strong emphasis on sustainability and innovation. 

Noteworthy partnerships include Erik Stark and Anna Glennon leading Team Miami and Emma Kimilainen paired with Sam Coleman for Team Brady. The championship, with global coverage reaching 500 million homes, promises to redefine powerboat racing, featuring broadcasting agreements with CBS Sports, ITV, Tencent, PX Sports, SuperSport, Dubai Sports, and Saudi Sports Channel Company. For those looking forward to witnessing the championship from the event, it is important to note that the event is free for attendees, however; it is already completely booked mainly due to their star-studded event.

E1 Series banks heavily on its celebrity appeal 

Alejandro Agag, known for creating the all-electric Formula E series and Extreme E, has brought forth the E1 Series, an electric powerboat championship. Partnering with Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund has provided substantial financial support, making it an investment-rich venture. In a recent interview with Rodi Basso, co-founder and CEO of E1 Series, he discussed the journey leading to securing high-profile investors like Tom Brady, Rafael Nadal, and Sergio Pérez.

The championship aims to deliver on its mission of on-water racing with clean technologies and showcased its format during an exhibition in Rotterdam.
