Deion Sanders has single-handedly brought the Colorado Buffaloes to its prime. Coach Prime has effectively transformed a team, that failed to achieve considerable height in the last fourteen years, for the better, after assuming the role of head coach in 2021. A program with a 1-11 record last year has surged to a 3-0 start under the Coach Prime era, quickly evolving from being an afterthought to becoming the talk of college football.

The fiery coach with his electric personality has made it known that his interest in coaching does not travel beyond college football, and he does not see himself coaching any NFL team. However, television personality and host Taylor Rooks set up a hypothetical situation for the revered coach on a recent episode of the Bleachers Report that aired on Sep 21. “In a dream world, who is one current NFL player that you would like to coach?” Rooks asked, and the Colorado Head Coach’s answer was nothing like anything an NFL fan would have expected.

“Travis Kelce is it man!” exclaimed Coach Prime, “I love everything about Travis Kelce.” The 59-year-old former two-sport athlete was all praise for his favorite NFL player that he would love to coach in a ‘dream world’. “Travis Kelce is like a little brother to me,” said Sanders, who went on to speak about how the Kansas City Chiefs star is “always in a good mood” and has “that confidence that bleeds off the field as well.”

The other NFL player that Sanders mentions is the cheetah, or Miami Dolphins’ wide receiver Tyreek Hill. Coach Prime highlights Hill’s dominance and confidence both on and off the field, which is similar to Kelce, and something the coach loves.

Speaking of favored players, Deion Sanders mentions his son, Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders. Shedeur has made a remarkable start to this season, amassing 1,251 passing yards and ten touchdowns in three games. However, it’s worth noting that the reigning Heisman Trophy winner, Caleb Williams, is expected to likely be the top pick in next year’s draft. Deion Sanders recently indicated that though neither of his two sons would be declaring for the 2024 draft, NFL or Saturday football, either way, they wish to be the best.

Whilst Shedeur’s selection in an NFL Draft is still uncertain, there has been enough speculation of Coach Prime’s venture into the world of the NFL with projected interview requests for the offseason head-coaching hiring cycle looming in the near future

Deion Sanders, the head coach of Colorado football, may attract attention in the upcoming NFL head coach hiring cycle, according to insights from “prominent team decision-makers.”

Jeff Howe of The Athletic conducted an informal survey where 10 high-ranking team decision-makers to gauge the league’s opinion on Sanders and subsequently shared the results. Seven out of the ten predicted that Sanders is likely to receive interview requests for the offseason head-coaching hiring cycle. “The other three didn’t rule it out but believed it was too early to make a prediction,” reported Howe. “He has been successful at everything he’s done,” they opined, both “on and off the field.”

An opinion that many share including Travis Kelce, who once said, “One of the best college coaches out there right now. Every he does turns to gold.” Well, it has only been Sanders’ third game with the Buffalos so far, will he be able to drive Colorado to another gold against the Ducks this coming Saturday at Eugene’s Autzen Stadium? We ought to wait to find out.
