In a YouTube video by Benny Johnson, the 36-year-old commentator hits Colin Kaepernick after addressing everything that transpired in the past. Considering his unlawful actions towards the NFL in the past, many people, including the popular American conservative political commentator, lash out against his return attempt.

In the video, he talks about the former QB’s relationship with the NFL, his letter to the New York Jets, and gives his opinions on his sudden interest in coming back. He started with a strong sentence, “Colin Kaepernick sued the NFL, took a settlement then went and made a Netflix documentary about how the NFL are slave owners because they pay black and white and Asian and Polynesian people multi-millions of dollars to play a sport.

Colin Kaepernick exited the NFL in 2016 in a controversial manner when he sat down during the playing of the national anthem. His reason was that he was protesting against racial discrimination and police brutality. This incident led the NFL to complications with the law, where Donald Trump stated that such players who protest during the national anthem should be “fired.”

Following the exit, he went on to release a Netflix documentary where he compared the NFL to slavery. He said in the documentary that the players are paraded out in front of scouts and coaches to measure their physical talent. Coaches will tell you they’re looking for warriors. They say they want you to be an animal out there… What they don’t want you to understand is what’s being established is a power dynamic. Before they put you out on the field, teams poke pride, no boundary, respect. No dignity left intact.

The 35-year-old free agent wrote a letter to Joe Douglas and the Jets to let him in the team’s practice squad. But the venture led to public shaming as there are lots of naysayers. The Jets have already signed Trevor Sieman for the position, and even if not, Colin Kaepernick’s past behavior with the NFL could have been a roadblock.

Benny Johnson states his perplexity over Colin Kaepernick’s audacity to return to the NFL after his “toxic behavior.” Aside from Johnson, former football player Jason Whitlock also posted, “Sued the NFL, took a settlement, put out a Netflix video calling the NFL slavery, writes letters begging for a spot on the plantation. You’re a revolutionary hero.
