Trade cards are the trump cards version of the football world that have player stats. In what is being described as a fair deal, the trade piece for Colin Kaepernick keeps the player’s name afloat. Seven years since last representing a premier NFL team, fans haven’t forgotten what the player has done for the San Francisco 49ers. His trade card is making headlines with an impressionable bid price.

Fan starts a bidding war for Kaepernick’s gold card

The 2X WAC Offensive Player of the Year winner is still popular among his fans. A rare treat to the eyes, Colin Kaepernick’s achievements are attracting fans towards him. Now his Gold Standard rookie patch card auto #525 is nothing than a gold dust for trade cards lovers. A fan named CaracoCards is now bidding the card for a whopping $95.

As per the user on X (formerly Twitter), the card treasured by NFL lovers was sold for $150. While the other churned up $95 in bids. Now adding spice to the bidding war, the best last price offered was $70 for the fans to pick the card. For Colin Kaepernick, he was the 2nd draft in the 2011 NFL draft. His rookie years didn’t see him doing anything special. However, come the 2013 season, he was an instant home name with his records.

In the season opener itself, the Nevada collegiate went about completing 412 yards and three touchdowns. Since then, his legacy only grew and he was touted as the next big thing in the football world. Still paying for his political views, Kaepernick’s return to the NFL seems a long way off!

Despite having passing yards over 12,0000, Kaepernick continues to be sidelined from the NFL. His fault: taking a knee during the national anthem in early 2017. This was done in a bid to raise awareness of racial inequality. Seven years since the incident, the QB’s career is still marred by the fateful event.

Fast forward to 2023, Coin Kaepernick expressed his desire to return to the NFL. He apparently wrote a letter to the New York Jets. He wished to join the practice squad and fill in the role of a QB. Jets are hapless with the loss of Aaron Rodgers to a season-ending injury. Kaepernick in his letter wrote, “I am sure of my ability to provide you with an elite QB option if, God forbid, QB1 goes down, this plan, I believe, allows me to be of great service to the team as a practice squad QB, while also giving you a low-commitment chance to assess my capabilities to help in any other capacity you may see fit.”

Whether he gets the chance to represent another NFL team or not. Kaepernick does have a special place reserved in the hearts of his fans. His trade cards are still loved and treasured by scores of his fans!
