“There’s a lot of things he can do… but getting out there on the recruiting trail and dealing with these college kids.” That was Tom Brady chiming in on whether Bill Belichick should dip his toes into the college coaching pool. Brady wasn’t exactly painting a rosy picture, was he? Many agreed, thinking Big Bill’s days on the sidelines—especially in the grind-it-out world of college football—were behind him. But guess what? Belichick just hit us with a classic misdirection play.

BREAKING: UNC is reportedly finalizing a deal to hire Bill Belichick as their new head coach. Yeah, that—6x Super Bowl champ—Belichick. He is making his way to the college ranks. Maybe he heard Brady’s take and decided, “Challenge accepted.” Because if anyone’s going to rewrite the playbook, it’s the guy who’s made a career of doing just that.

Let’s face it—no one expected to see Belichick in Tar Heel blue. The man has built a career on unpredictability, and this move is no different. What’s driving him? Good luck figuring that out. Not even Brady, the GOAT and his partner-in-dynasty, could dissuade his former coach. We’ll help you with one simple statement: Bill does what Bill wants. Period.

With Mack Brown leaving that hole in North Carolina, Belichick decided he could fill in. But at the same time, we all know, he basically shelved his chase for Don Shula’s 347-win record. Or Maybe he didn’t, but was forced to take up any gig elsewhere. As Tony Massarotti put it, “Maybe Bill knows there isn’t necessarily the desire among the owners to bring him back.” Ouch.

It’s not like there aren’t NFL vacancies. The Jets, Bears, and Saints. They are still looking for the bossman! But at 72, Belichick’s age might be a red flag for franchises, especially after the Patriots’ 4-13 crash-and-burn in his last season. Guess the NFL is brutal like that. Six rings might get you into the Hall of Fame, but they don’t guarantee a free pass. The question always lingers: “How’s your current coaching form?!”

Even Brady had his doubts, fearing Belichick’s old-school approach might clash with college players. But hey, we can speculate all day. For now, it’s time to wait and see how Bill handles the shift to the NCAA. Andy Reid seems to be doing the same, holding judgment until Chapel Hill gets its first taste of “Chapel Bill.”

What’s your perspective on:

Is Bill Belichick's move to college football a genius play or a desperate gamble?

Bill Belichick in college football? That’s brewing… But the Chiefs HC Andy Reid isn’t one to dodge the question. When asked about the legendary coach’s reported move to lead UNC, Reid kept it classy: “He’s the greatest, and whatever he chooses—high school, college, wherever—he deserves it.”

He further added, saying, “Whatever makes him happy.” Yeah, that’s very respectful, especially when he knows what’s up. If anyone’s earned the right to call their own plays in life, it’s Belichick. But let’s lie to each other: We wanted Big Bill back in the NFL give a last shot at redeeming the winningest NFL HC title!

But that was never happening. Brady left. The Pats crumbled. Or so, the Pas Nation will tell you but isn’t it what happened? Since 2020 (Brady’s departing year), they just made it to the playoffs once in 4 years before the front office pulled the plug on Bill. Guess North Carolina could treat him well… Hoping it does! Just as Reid isn’t questioning the move. He gets it—sometimes you’ve got to switch up the playbook.

Belichick’s NFL legacy is untouchable. Two rings as a Giants assistant, six more with the Patriots, and an uncanny knack for spotting talent (remember when he plucked Brady at pick 199?). Yet, the NFL’s a “what have you done lately” kind of league. And lately? The Patriots haven’t been the same powerhouse since Brady left town. Maybe a fresh start in college ball is just what the Hoodie needs.
