Caleb Williams, the reigning Heisman USC Trojans quarterback, has been gaining considerable ground as the hottest NFL 2024 draft prospect. His remarkable on-field abilities have led to comparisons with legendary quarterbacks. Intriguingly, much like Aaron Rodgers, Caleb Williams has expressed a similar interest. While Rodgers was denied, will Williams’ will be granted? 

Nonetheless, this unconventional proposition contradicts existing NFL regulations, which impose limitations on players. Although Rodgers and Williams have followed similar paths, it remains uncertain whether the league will endorse this audacious request. On the latest episode of ‘It Needed To Be Said’, Tyreek Hill furnishes his audience with his take on th subject. 

Cheetah implores Williams to “shoot” his “shot”

The rising NFL sensation publicly announced his interest in acquiring partial ownership in the NFL team that ultimately chose him in the 2024 Draft which goes against The NFL’s policy towards players acquiring stakes. However, in the YouTube video, the Miami Dolphins wide receiver roots the young quarterback’s decision, sayingI like it baby, shoot your shot.” Hill was full of praise and praised Williams’ ability to change the game and set new standards for the next generation of quarterbacks. “I wanna see it happen though, especially for Caleb,” said Cheetah, “It shows confidence, it shows he is confident of what he is bringing to any franchise.”  

He is proud of the fact that Williams is not selling himself short and is well aware of the abilities that he brings to the table. Caleb Williams, showcasing his on-field talent, has guided the USC Trojans to a commanding 6-1 record, propelling them to the top of the Pac-12 rankings. In the current season, he has impressively amassed 2,021 yards and thrown 23 touchdowns. Nevertheless, despite his status as the leading NFL draft prospect, it’s improbable that he will see this dream come to fruition. Well, A-Rod’s did not.

The NFL curtailed Rodgers’ aspirations 

Ahead of his stint with the Jets, Rodgers had articulated his aspirations to acquire partial ownership of the franchise. But even before the Jets could come up with a suitable proposition, NFL management intervened stalling all. It is beyond the NFL’s protocol to allow players to acquire stakes in NFL teams and it has even banned players or employees from owning shares with the team, following Josh Harris’ partial acquisition of the Washington Commanders.

Caleb Williams, despite his immense value in college football, might not be exempted from the NFL’s regulations. As Aaron Rodgers’ pursuit of team ownership with the Jets ended in failure, the possibility of Williams entering the NFL without an ownership stake looms large.
