At 53, Michael Strahan is grinding like some new kid on the block. What started off as a daily routine to terrorize QBs has now turned into a full-time television host. Anytime you come across Good Morning America on your television, there you will see a gap-toothed man welcoming you with the biggest smile possible. Or you could see him at weekends, catching up with his football buddies as an analyst for Fox NFL Sunday. Building himself a professional persona that extends beyond television screens. Strahan is also a co-founder of SMAC Entertainment. Living a diverse career that keeps him on his toes every day—the question is, where does he get the motivation from?
Well, as you can already guess, it all comes from his cancer-surviving daughter, Isabella. Just a year ago, Isabella was fighting for her life after getting diagnosed with medulloblastoma. Isabella was going through some serious symptoms that threw her life off balance. Constant headaches, nausea, coughing up blood, and balancing issues; it was hell on earth for the then USC freshman. However, after a lengthy battle that lasted almost a year, Isabella kicked cancer out of her life.
So, having witnessed Isabella’s magical recovery, Strahan’s whole perspective on life changed. He told ABC, “Isabella showed me what real courage and strength are. Hearing her say, Dad, I’ll do whatever it takes. I really want to live. That broke me.” Seeing his own daughter go through so much pain at such a young age obviously took a massive toll on Strahan.

However, it also turned out to be an eye-opener for the former Giants DE: “But it also made me appreciate life in a new way and put things into perspective. We all have busy jobs and lives. Those things pale in comparison to what’s important, which is family.” No matter how busy Strahan gets while doing an NFL show. Hosting GMA. Or even his own game show, The $100,000 Pyramid, that ABC reprised for an eighth season. Now, it’s not like Michael Strahan is opening up on the true importance of his family only after Isabella’s cancer.
Even in 2016, the dad of four told PEOPLE how much his family means to him. “My kids give me strength. I love being with the kids. To me, it’s all about family, now more than anything.” Well, right now, it’s time for Strahan to look ahead. His daughter, who was tussling with cancer a few months ago, is now having her model moment.
