Tom Brady’s not just a one-playbook guy. For decades, he had the whole world talking about his QB wizardry, stacking rings like Thanos. Now? He’s got everyone talking again—this time, with a mic instead of a football. It’s like when Michael Jordan traded his sneakers for a baseball glove—everyone’s curious to see how this next chapter unfolds. Well, some believe that Brady did a solid job, while others have different opinions.
However, how exciting would it be if we asked about Brady’s broadcasting career to an NFL legend? Go on, have your guesses. We’re talking about the former Miami Dolphins quarterback, Dan Marino, who recently appeared on the Not Just Football with Cam Heyward podcast. Heyward asked him, “I want to ask about Tom Brady. He moves into you know, the media realm. How do you think he did in his first year?”
In his response, the NFL legend admitted he’s only watched Brady once—yep, just once. Then, he broke down Brady’s rookie year in the booth and even threw in a little advice for the NFL GOAT while he was at it. “The problem is, I have only seen him last week first time. Because you know, I’m usually going to the Dolphins games,” Marino replied. “So, I haven’t really seen him, but from what I heard, he’s done a solid job, you know, from what people’s told me.”

On top of that, Cam Heyward asked him if he wanted to give a piece of advice to Brady considering the future Hall of Famer QB signed a multi-year deal with FOX. To answer that, Marino replied, “Well, just keep rolling, have some fun man, why not? You know, he’s making some decent money too.” Oh no, he’s making more than decent money if we’re being real, right? An extravagant $375 million for ten years. So yeah, it’s more than decent money.
Speaking of Brady’s rookie year in broadcasting…well, let’s just say, it was a mix of bag. On one side, Brady was initially criticized for his dual role of being a FOX broadcaster and a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders. The result? Well, the NFL had to step in and set some ground rules. You can just say, the league put him in a “look, but don’t touch” situation—no private team meetings, no exclusive player convos, and absolutely no behind-the-scenes access.
On the flip side, it’s safe to say that the guy took the job pretty seriously. The NFL commissioner, Roger Goodell, revealed that Brady often called him and asked if he was doing a good job. Plus, his football IQ is off the charts, because, of course, the guy’s been in the NFL since forever. So, when he broke down plays, you knew you were getting insight straight from a guy who’s lived it.
All in all, Tom Brady’s broadcasting career didn’t take off as he might have expected. The guy had a taste of some highs and lows. But one thing’s certain, Brady’s definitely looking to go ahead with his new gig. As Dan Marino advises, “Just keep rolling.”
But, Tom Brady is not in the top 5 list of Dan Marino
Dan Marino knows a thing or two about some of the elite quarterbacks in the NFL. After all, the Hall of Famer QB was slinging touchdowns before some of today’s stars were even born. And when asked if there is any quarterback that he enjoys watching these days, the former Dolphins QB went straight-up and said, “Well, Mahomes for sure, Josh Allen, (and) Lamar Jackson, all those guys are so dynamic.” However, it was the Rams’ QB, Matthew Stafford, considering the guy’s a great thrower.

Have an interesting take?
Now, that’s where things get pretty interesting. You see, just when Marino talked about a great thrower, he was instantly asked to list the top 5 great arms of all time in the NFL. Now, y’all must be thinking that Marino would name Tom Brady as number 1, right? But nope, reality often hits hard. In fact, he chose Aaron Rodgers. Yep, you read that right.

He named that one guy who’s been failing for the last couple of seasons constantly. But let’s talk about what it actually is. I mean, sure, the 41-year-old had a few rough seasons in past years, but we just can’t avoid the elephant in the room. Rodgers’ combination of velocity, accuracy, release speed, and ability to throw off-platform is absolutely insane. And the way he effortlessly flicks a 50-yard pass on the run? Oh, that’s pure magic.

So yeah, it pretty much justifies why he chose Rodgers. On the flip side, Marino also named Bert Jones of the Baltimore Colts, Brett Favre of the Packers, Michael Vik of the Falcons. Last but not least, Warren Moon of Houston. The kicker? Well, none of them is at the top of the list. No, not a typo. In fact, Dan Marino was actually forced to have the top spot by Cam Heyward.
At the end of the day, Marino’s list might not be what some fans expected. But, that’s the beauty of the opinions, right? The Hall of Famer played in an era where slinging the rock actually meant something. So if he says Rodgers has the best arm, all we probably can do is take a step back and just nod along.
